Looking for some help upgrading the ballast system in my 2005 Centruion cyclone. I have the standard center ballast and want to add the side locker ballast. The dealer wants about 2K to install the system which I think is too much considering I had the two extra ballast switches installed when I ordered the boat and I have the two side ballast bags, 400 lbs each. It seems all I need to do is install the pumps and through hull connections. Does anyone have any advice on drilling the holes in the hull? Can I do this or should I have the dealer drill the holes. Also, what pumps and fittings does Centurion use in their factory installations? Someone told me the pumps are made by Mayfair. Any input on the installation will be greatly appreciated.

You can EASILY do this, the hardest part about doing this install is getting the balls up to know that you aren't going to ruin the boat if you drill through the hull (correctly).

If you are planning on installing just the rears, make two through hulls in the bottom - so each sac runs off of its own pump/thru hull and not a manifold.

It really doesn't matter which pump you use, if you go the route of getting a Jabsco reversible it will cost a lot more - I went with 6 mayfair pumps for my install (two for each sac, i.e. fill/empty). But you don't need to use mayfair if you don't want too, it's just what a lot of companies roll with for cost reasons.

But check out Phat's post, best run-through of an install I've seen on the web:

But trust me, you can do this install for at LEAST A FORTH of what the dealer is quoting you.
