I have an I/O with a tower, Chaparral 204 ssi, and I am an intermediate. I can jump w2w, ride switch, land the 180, but can I possibly land an invert behind an I/O. If anyone has done it please let me know. I just don't know if trying it would be pointless given the wake size.

I generall always ride behind a Glastron Mx185 with a tower. it throws an ok wake. and even before i started throwing sacs in it i was already throwing backrolls, 3's and a bunch of 180's. it's easily done. you may have to tuck a lil harder or throw the trick faster due to less air as people riding the X-star's but it's still not hard.

i have a 20 ft four winns and i can do a bunch of inverts behind it. It's like brath5 said, you just have throw them faster or harder.

brath5, What Fat sac are you using and where do you have it. I'm trying to figure out which one or if i need more than one and where to place it in a I/O to achieve a bigger wake. as you can see i have a four winns 200.
thanks

I can do 3's and tantrums behind a jetski, so yes, you can do them behind an I/O

my200winns, I run a 600 lb sac in the bow of my 19.5' Tahoe I/O. After starting and getting on plane, I trim the motor up about 1/4 of the way. With the weight in the bow, it causes the whole boat to ride low in the water and produces a very decent wake for this kind of boat.

mtinzona, A friend of mine has thrown tantrums, backrolls, and 3's behind my I/O. Cool

i find that behind my boat i need to throw the tricks a lot harder cause the wake isnt as big, and wheni ride a big wake boat i feel like a pro cause i have all this extra time in the air, i feel like training behind my boat with a small wake only makes me better when i ride big boat.

mtinzona, sounds like we are about the same skill level. I ride behind a regal 1800 w/ a monster tower, 5 blade SS prop, and about 1000lbs ballast via fat sacs. (750 in the ski locker and another 300 in the bow) im just learning inverts now. good luck this season!

I just Run a 540lb sac and sit it right betweeen the driver/passenger seats and extending kinda forward barely into the bow. It helps get the boat on plane, and when we usually have 8 or so people in it it levels off really nice and throws a noticably bigger wake. IMO. but this past weekend a centurion running 1500lb's tok me for a run, and it's still apples to oranges.

Maybe this is where I should have ask my questions before. I've been trying to get some info on I/O, and whether a tower would be a good idea to put on an I/O?

I have a 2005 Glastron gx205 w/ a 5.0 v8 volvo/penta drive. i just bought it afew months ago and I have only driven it two times and it was too cold to wakeboard those days. The boat will plane in just a little less than 3 seconds, and once on plane I can throttle back as low as 14 mph and the boat still stays on plane. Looking back from the driver's seat as I went across the lake at about 20mph, the wake looked to be a good size wake. With all of the weight of the v8 and drive unit in the rear, it seems to really push the boat down and create a nice wake.

my question is would a tower be a good addition to this boat? I'm really leaning towards a Monster tower, and was wondering if any of you use perfect pass?? My boat seems to plane fast, and run a consistent speed fairly easy. so would a perfect pass be necessary??

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

gx205, That's the bigger version of my buddy's boat. He has perfect pass (which beside the hole needed to cut for it's own more accurate speedo) is Awesome. And his came with a roswell tower from the factory. It is a great addition. It's not wake specific but it throws i decent wake and with a couple people in the boat it makes for a great learning wake. that's the boat i learned everything from 180's up to rolls on. Works great. Now i need a lil more ramp to the wake so i have a sac i throw in it and try and get more people to weight it down but it's a solid platform for boarding.

Thanks for the info brath5, that's what I was wondering.

I've got a vacation coming up June 22nd of this month, so I'm going to need to make a decisionASAP, about the tower if I'm going to have it on by that vacation.

My whole family will be at the lake that week, and we should really put this boat to work skiiing, tubing, and wakeboarding.

Did your buddy's boat not want to run consistent speeds while pulling wakeboarders?? Is this why he installed the perfect pass?? Or does he just like the option of having to set a speed and leaving it alone??

In all honesty, this boat of mine with the v8 torque, seems to have plenty of power to pull any type of skier, wakeboarder, or tuber without really having to adjust the throttle while your pulling them....unless you make a sharp turn, and then I will have to throttle up a bit until I straighten back out.

Thanks

I know with my regal that the speed sometimes will vary. I will keep the rpms about the same and the speed might change 1-2 mph even w/o any cutting or anything. I've always been told that I/O have a hard time staying at the same speed while wakeboarding w/o needing a bit of throttle control most of the time

mine had the problem, upgraded to a 4 blade prop and all my problems went away

gx205, Well his dad is a Yamaha Dealer and has glastron. They get a new boat every year. The 185 is the biggest that'll fit in their boathouse so now they just kinda add on options. And it was a bit of a pain trying to keep speed (and he was way to lazy to so i'd get pist off). Now the perfect pass is always in use. Even cruzing we just set it at the best speed for gas milage. He only has the 210Horse Engine so it can have some trouble getting on plane with me behind it and an over legal load.

GX, I've got a brand new Four Winns 220 Horizon that I have set up for boarding and it does pretty well. Put a tower on it, PerfectPass if you can afford it and can install it, and throw at least 500 lbs in the bow and trim it up. You'll be fine. My wake comes up to at least my knee at 20-22MPH with just my wife in the boat driving.

Thanks guys!! I was really thinking a tower would be a great investment, also maybe I will look into the perfect pass.

I was a hugh jetboat fanatic, but when I took a ride and drive in this I/O that a good friend of mine owned before me, it just changed my opinion from night to day.

I really appreciate all of your responses

On a second note,....any of you ever pulled any of the sportsstuff mega bowls tubes?? I bought a package of four of them, since you can hook all four of them together into a train and pull 4 people at once. they llok to be a lot of fun, and I'll give them a tryout in about two weeks.

just wondering if any of you had already used them, and what info you might have about them?

Thanks Again!!
