Ok so I can clear the wake TS and HS and everything so thats not the problem. I was wondering if how far I take my cut has a direct relationship to my jump. When I cut in from way out in the flats I can clear the wake and land in the opposite side flats. But if I cut from a shorter distance will I go less distance but get higher in the air? I hope you guys understand what I am trying to say. If not I'll just draw a little picture. Thanks

I think I might know, but without a vid, it's hard to say. when you start from way out, you're able to build up a bunch of speed without having to take a super deep edge. this gets you further out into the flats. Starting from up close, you're probably taking a harder edge to build speed faster, and the potential energy you build up by edging harder pushes you straight up harder, even though you don't have the speed to take it out to the flats

so in theory if I take the same exact edge I should get the same height just the distance will be different because of the speed?

Yeah. Height is dependent on the amount of pressure on the bottom of your board. You may have also heard that line tension is what gives you height, but it's the same thing. Harder edge=more pressure on your board=more line tension=more potential energy=more height.

you'll find there are more variables than that though. If you carry a lot of speed into the wake and build your edge all the way, you may have a hard time keeping yourself from doing a raley (which is scary if you don't mean to do it.) But overall, your edge should be hardest as you go up the wake, which will help you take every jump higher.

Yeah I understand line tension and all that. I can go into the flats and get good height off the wake I was just wondering if I could get more height with less speed. Thanks for the help. I cant wait till my spring break when I can get on the water almost every day

Lol, me neither. I always thought it was just like, keep the line tension and cut hard and if you cut hard enough you go high and far.
