Don't go any closer, 60ft should be fine. If you aren't clearing the wake it's more likely than not your technique that is inhibiting your progression. From having taught so many people over the years, the biggest problem that new riders have is that they don't pop off the wake - they absorb the pop with their knees and try to skip across wake-to-wake.
Try and get a video of you riding, that way we can point out what you're doing wrong and go from there. But I highly doubt bringind the rope in any closer will help you out. _________________ Neuston Boards

Sinkoumn, i've been riding since i was ten, i have the same proplem asj_jaquette, but i dont just skip across, i edge hard then back off and stand with my knees bent, i can get really good height, butstill land inside the wake _________________ 04 LF Trip 133

| If you don't let off ot the edge and straighten your legs at the wake, you should get better pop, and it might increase your distance too. You want to make sure to maintain your edge to the top of the wake, since this is what maintains your line tension. When your knees are bent, they act as natural shock absorbers, which is good for landing, but not so good for takeoff. |

| If you are getting a progressive edge and standing tall at the wake, it should take you up. |

just stand tall... _________________ * riding finless teaches you to get your edge down properly, when you do it with fins, you'll be able to cut like OJ Simpson
