I grew up there and know I got EVERYTHING mail order because we didn't have a local shop. If you want to take about a 2 hour drive, I can set you up with directions to a sweet boardshop in Southwest CT called AXIS Boardsports. They're real great guys, no bad vibe, cool skate park/halfpipe, and all the gear you'd want.
You might also want to check out Lake Sebago in Maine. I know there's a shop up there, but I forget the name. NH has a few as well. Wakeboarding isn't big in the Northeast...yet! I'm doing my best, along with a good group of people, to change that. If you're in the area, be sure to check out the WICed Fest. It's a kick ass time! _________________ Dan DeLaiarro

Actually, the best way to get directions is to go to the WICed Fest Homepage. There's a Directions tab there. Click that and you should see directions to AXIS. You'll want to take I-84 WEST and you can pick that up if you go west, from Boston, on the Mass Pike. Sorry, that's really not a plug for the site, it's just that the info is already there.
fs04laoaksfny mentioned Competitive Edge in Holyoke...they're OK. I went to school in Amherst (next town over). There's really not a lot of good shops there and they don't konw what wakeboarding really is. Fat Trax is in Southhampton I believe, but that shop has a wicked bad vibe. I went there once and will never go again.
If you go to AXIS, ask for Rob (big dude with a shaved head). He's a wicked cool guy and should be able to set you up with just about anything you need. _________________ Dan DeLaiarro
