$50.00 at Lowes and a half hour of my time...

I was tired of leaning my gear against the wall in the garage so I put this up. Cool

How did you build the rack? Can you post the parts list? I want to build something like that for my board storage. Thanks!

jpk, I had a basic idea of what I wanted to do and I wandered around Lowe's until I found what I thought would work.

The two vertical sections you see with the slots in them were in the shelving section, as were the triangular slats that fit into them.

Dual Trak Adjustable Shelving

The padding is nothing more than pipe insulation from the plumbing section. It comes in 6' lengths. I used a pair of snips and cut them to length then just slipped them over the shelf supports.

I screwed two threaded eye bolts into the wall. They were similar to this but maybe a little larger I used these for the bungie to keep the boards in place. In reality, I probably didn't need it because the boards stayed on there pretty solidly. But I still sleep better knowing my boards aren't going to hit the floor if I crank up the stereo in the house.

The bottom section where you see my vests and wetsuit hanging is just a sturdy metal clothes hanger that I straightened out, wired onto the ends, and stuck another piece of pipe insulation on it.

That's it. Nothing more to it. Hope this helps. Cool

not to hijack your thread, but I have been hesitant to store my gear in the garage. My boards, bindings, and life jackets do take up a good bit of space in the house, and I would prefer to have them out of the way in the garage. However, I'm a freak about trying to keep my stuff nice (esp. expensive stuff like wb equipment). Do I have anything to worry about as far as storing in the garage? I live in Houston, so their is some cold, a lot of hot and a lot of humidity.

Mariner, I asked a similar question a few months ago. I was told that as long as the boards weren't stored in direct sunlight, there was nothing to worry about. And, like Texas, South Carolina has some cold, a lot of hot, and a lot of humidity. Smile

Nice racks!

If you are good working with wood, you could be able to make something like this..

Okay it's not a board rack but it is something to do while the winter passes. My buddy and I built three of these things in less than an hour, they may not be as pretty as an indo board but what do you expect for $30! We used PVC and tried to spray paint it to look a little nicer but it rubbed off when you try to use it on concrete, but there's no one stopping you. I know it's a cheap rip off, so no haters and please no lawsuits Shocked

I like how the skis and kneeboard are all thrown together on the bottom of the rack. Also showing that they probably/hopefully get little to no use.

wakeboarderdave1, hahaha i just have a bunch of crap in my garage and closets to sell. notice the skis are still in the plastic and have never been touched. same goes for the kneeboard its never touched the water....

when the shop i helped run went out of bussiness i got an assload of gear and just havent got around to selling most of the ski stuff. I sold most of the wake stuff but skis arent as easy to sell online.

I have about 100 pairs of gloves in a box somewhere if anyone needs some new "wakeboard" gloves this season hahahahaha

i'm not sure about wakeboarding gear, but rope for rock climbing, neoprene wetsuits, and other stuff like should not be kept in a garage, something about fumes from the car will make them deteriorate.

Mariner, I'm in Indiana, and I have stored my stuff in the garage and in the barn. No problems at all. Don't know about the car fume thing though. We back our car out once it's started.

HHI Dave the pipe is 6in and the board is 30x18. We weren't sure the size of a real indo but it looks close.

But the part we really had to guess was were to put the stops on the bottom. If someone with a real indo board could bust out the tape measure that would be awesome!

i really dig the wooden variation.. ive got some surfboard racks off of ebay a while back like that for about 50 bucks. im wanting to do something similar for my wakeboards. its going to end up somewhere on a wall in my apt so i dont want it to look like a garage or shed rack.. its gotta be clean.

I'm planning on building a rack for my boards tonight and I like the first design.

HHI Dave, is the bungee strap necessary? I am planning on basically duplicating your setup but dropping the bungee strap. It seems like the boards should stay there by themselves.

Wow, a blast from the past. This thread is over a year old. Laughing Laughing Laughing

No, the bungee isn't really necessary. It was just an added precaution. I've quit using it since the pic was taken. Cool

Why'd you skip out on the $10 gallon of paint and $3 roller?
