I know there is a search thread and everybody would say to demo. That is what I am going to do this spring, since I am on a water ski team and get to ride at most 3 days a week. The board a I currently ride is a Hyperlite Motive 140. I don't know what I want or need because this is the only board I have ever been on. After 4 years of riding I just started hitting w2w's at the end of the year. I might just keep riding the Motive till I get to where it's consistent. So I am just basically looking for some options and what other boards people think I should try out.

Question 2: I am also looking into getting a little more serious into wakeskating. I currently have Kampus k41. I would only wakeskate once and a while but it was fun/unique, as compared to wakeboarding. Since I most often ride behind a I/O I thought giving wakeskating a try would be better due to the laking of a wake.

Thanks for the help

I can't help out with the wakeskate since I've never even seen one, but my first board was a HL Motive too. I think it's a great "boat board", something that anyone can use or learn on. The problem is, I don't think it has a whole lot of rocker, and certainly doesn't have a whole lot of pop. I bought a LF Fish and LF Watson about the same time, and as soon as I started riding those I noticed a pretty big difference in pop, and therefore became a lot more consistent in going w2w. My boat doesn't throw a very tall wake, but it's wide, so even with good technique I wasn't going w2w consistently with the Motive.
So, I say all that to say, look for a board with a little more pop to it. I know Wakeside has a little chart that rates boards on pop, feel, and ability. There are so many choices out there I can't give you a specific board, but that should get you started.

i've been around these boards for a while and know my way around most of the online boardshops. I'm just looking for personal opinions and that kind of thing.

i would say go with a LF team, i love this board. im riding a murray at the moment and it is alot like the motive(im pretty sure), and but when i went to the wakeboard camp in orlando i rode a LF team and noticed a huge difference in pop, yet it keeps the consistency of the murray.

as for wakeskates just keep your K series deck, it is great for beginners to advanced

If my memory serves me correctly, the Murray was patterned after the Team- wasn't it? Could be that my memory is wrong though, after I pulled this huge jump off the wake and the wind blew me onto the bank and I hit my head on the rocks and then a big dead tree and then this turkey buzzard came and started pecking my...oh wait, none of that happened. If it did, I probably couldn't type this.

Seriously, though, I'm riding a LF Team 143 and Wakemaster 17 is absolutely right. Great pop, very consistent. With both molded-in fins and 3 removable fins on each end, you can make it do whatever you want.

I've been looking at getting the LF synergy for myself, but demoing if you can is a must. What price range are you looking at?

Hyperlite 3DS is a great board and the Byerly also. Hyps new imperial is supose to have a ton of pop. Don't forget to demo the CWB Faction it has had some great reviews.

Justin 25,

I've got a LF Synergy and absolutely love it. The cupped side fins allow for a really tight ride that I prefer. However I can't really comment on its "consistency" or "predictability." What I don't understand is how a board can be INconsistent or UNpredictable. I mean.. a board's a board right..? It's not like it changes from day to day. What do people mean by consistent or predictable then? Neutral Neutral Neutral

I've been wondering about this for quite some time now.

Thanks.

hockeyplaya1821, It's all about release off the wake. Continuous rockers tend to release cleaner. Three stagers are more finicky about when you pop. Timing is more of an issue with 3 stagers

I don't know about you guys, but my board can be VERY inconsistent and unpredictable. Sometimes, it makes me fall when I'm trying something new. Other times, it tells me that it is too tired and doesn't feel like being ridden. I never know what it will say.
