Simmer pump, running dry!!!

Went boarding Sunday night. Somewhere during bringing the boat in, one of the pumps was switched on, and totally emptied the sack, and eventually blew its fuse. I will be working on it tonight. Hoping nothing too serious. Does anyone have similar experience?

I did the same exact thing to mine. In fact the impeller started smoking and buring too. I pulled it apart and it was perfectly fine, no damage at all. I put a new fuse in too and was good to go. From what I hear they are tough as nails. I may order an extra impeller to have just in case.
