So, if these guys are sooooo good why don't they just invest their own money and not even deal with the general public?

chavez, lol

muckmeister, need money to make money?

Unless you have large sums of money to do higher volume trading where you can make it worth your time getting that quick gain....I bet most go with the masses to help grow their investments.

Another good question would be, do they reccomend investments similar to their own to drive their investments up? Laughing

Because you can make more with other peoples money than you can with your own. The big hedge fund managers are reaping 20-40% of profits they bring in. In a big hedge fund that can be in the area of 50-150 mill a year to the manager. Goof luck doing that with your own funds. unless you are warren buffet. Now financial advisors are a dime a dozen. The good ones make more investing other peoples money than they would their own and the shitty ones don't make jack stuff. Jack stuff with 400% return is still jack stuff.

Unless you are dealing with people who have the purchasing power to be putting millions into a stock your not going to drive up your holdings. The people who can influence stock prices are analysts who put out buy/sell opinions, and large private equity frims that are investing billions of dollars. They may move to pump their own investments but that is very unethical and if the SEC got wind they'd be frying in the same pan as all the enron and worldcom execs. You see pump and dumps all the time where MM's work to make a quick return on their assests from the firm. This makes them far more money than investings their own funds.
