I'm a newbie and i just bought a 2006 LF Substance 134. I rode it today with fins and was having trouble with my toe side edge. It seemed harder to do a toe side edge with the six fins then the single fin on each side on the rental board....would going finless with just the two molden in fins on each side help out at all?

Thanks for you help!

This is one of the most common questions on this board. Lots of people ride without center fins, including me. The advanatages are that it helps you learn to edge without the center fin "crutches" and it makes the surface stuff a lot easier.

When I first started riding my CWB, I couldn't break it loose on the surface no matter how hard I tried. I took off the humongous center fins and immediately started getting the surface 180's and powerslides. I put them back on after a couple of months just to see how it felt. They came back off the same day. Laughing

I guess the easiest way to find out is not to ask on the forum, but to take those suckers off and give it a try. Once you get used to it, you may love it. I know I did. Cool

Once you take them off it may take a while for you to get used to the feel. I ride a substance and and the beginning of the year i took my fins off, for the same reason as HHI Dave did. It took me a couple of good runs to get the feel of it. Give it a couple of shots, if you still don't like it then you can always put them back on.

I took off the fins today and I love it! The board rides a lot smoother and i can cut a lot harder. It didn't take long at all to get used to the feel. I definately won't be putting the fins back on any time soon. Thanks for your help!

stuzzy07, a lot of people ride without fins, and a lot with fins. It's really personal preference...and please check for other threads on your same topic, because there are a lot about this subject.

Its mostly personal preferance. If you like the feeling without fins, then take the fins off. If dont, put them on.
