OK, I've got the frontside surface 180's down solid on either side of the wake. I'm also throwing up a real nice spray with my reverse powerslides. I can turn completely away from the boat and ride it with the handle behind me. Now, how the hell do I pass that handle and land that backside surface 180 and/or 360. For some reason, I just can't reach the handle. Help me out guys.
(I ride goofy in case it matters for instructional purposes.)
Thanks. _________________ Hilton Head Wake Sports.com

When you are riding with the handle behind you, do you have both hands on it? If so, just let go with whatever hand stayed on the handle so far and the rest of your body should follow on its own. If not, think about bringing the handle to the fron side of your hip and I think that should help.
If you aren't getting both hands on the handle when riding backwards, think of the handle as a batton (like the kind track runners use.) I start out with my hands as wide as they will go on the handle. Then, think about passing the "batton" behind your back, grabbing the end of it with your back hand. Again, let go with what was your front hand, look over your shoulder in the direction you are spinning, and the rest of your body should follow.
Hope that helps. Remember to keep the handle as close to your body as possible while passing it. _________________ Whoever coined the term "Near Beer" was a very poor judge of distance... |

timmyDecker, No, I only have one hand on the handle behind me. I just can't seem to reach it with that other hand.
Thanks for the tip
We're going out again in a little while. Guess I'll just keep on trying til I get it. _________________ Hilton Head Wake Sports.com

It took me a little getting used to too. Try going like 13-15 mph and doing nothing but handle passes for a while. That's how I dialed them. After you can do it every time at a slow speed, go back up to your regular speed, and you should be able to get it pretty quickly.
Also, when you are riding backwards with only one hand, when you try to grab the handle with your other hand, are you catching your heelside edge? That's how I was falling when I was trying to learn surface spins. Focusing on leaning away from the boat on your toes should help.
Again, remember to keep the handle close to your body. That might help with being able to reach it with your other hand, and it will certainly help with getting pulled off balance.
If you can ride backwards already, you are probably at least 80% there. _________________ Whoever coined the term "Near Beer" was a very poor judge of distance... |

Actually, I rode my last set without the neo top yesterday. It just wasn't that cold.
Thanks again for the input. _________________ Hilton Head Wake Sports.com
