Here is my new boat, it is getting the snap on cover installed, then I can take delivery or have the dealership store it for free until the end of march, depends on the weather. |

LFPIMP, McLaughlin's had a few of those at the boatshow, and they all had that same tower setup on them, so I suspect that that's how they come from the factory. |

That XT boat is a Bayliner 175 with a tower and some fancy graphics on the side.
It seems a lot of I/O manufacturers are putting towers on their boats from the factory these days. I don't know if it is trying to copy anyone, or just that that's what sells. I know a guy who's boat has a tower because his wife insisted that they looked cool and therefore had to have one. I think that they've towed a wakeboarder once. |

jjaszkow, the XT graphic looks like Bayliner would have gotten Trademark rights from MC, thats why I thought it was a copy cat boat, I deffinatly would never buy a bayliner, have heard bad things about quality. Was the boat show any good, I havent gone to it in a while, was going to try to persuade my dad to take me for a "school project" (wink wink ) But that never flew _________________ 04 LF Trip 133

I don't think that MC has that exact same graphic, but I do agree it's awefully close. Probably enough points of difference to not be violating any trademarks or copyrights though.
Bayliner isn't too horrible (I know I'm probably going to be flamed for this), but you can definately tell that it is a budget boat from the fit and finish. They've come a long way since the 80's and early 90's as far as quality is concerned. They target a price point, and seem to be quite successful at it.
The show was pretty good. A lot of fishing boats as usual, but they had the new CC and Centurion products there.

This summer? I'm hoping to get out on it this week.

I've noticed that too from the ads in magazines like "Boating Life". I like to believe that its because wakeboarding is a rapidly growing sport and the manufacturers realize that not everyone can afford a $60k wakeboat. I like to think that maybe because of the sport's growing popularity, the mainstream boat manufacturers have a market for a "poor man's wakeboat" like mine.
Then again, it might just be because some dorks think they look cool. |

I bought the bayliner for the price end of story. Along with a huge house note, car, truck, two kids and an adrenaline filled lifestyle thats what i can afford. The only thing I use it for is to wakeboard and I would be wiling to bet that my buddies and I can prolly out ride at leat 50% of the peeps with wakeboard boats. ONe of my buds has an older x-star and can do just about everyting on mine that he can on his. Its not about the boat, its about the rider. I actually learned on the back of a 16' 70hp outboard (clearing the wake and all). Who knows I may end up with one in a few years. Just cause u have a bayliner, tahoe, sea ray etc. doesnt mean u cant wakeboard behind them. Flame if u wanna!!! _________________ Lets Ride!

jixxxer ,,, dont worry bout people dawgin the bayliner . I roll in one also , and for the $ , it is a great boat , and well taken care of , it should last as long as any other . The biggest problem Bayliner has had is the lower price boats allow lower income families to take ownership , and not dawgin a lower income family since i fall in that group , but there is alot more potential to not take as much care for a boat in this category . Example ,,, not being able to keep it in a garage . A boat is a boat as long as it gets you out on the water , and you have a good safe time .. Peace Out |

What I know, if I had gone out and spent 70K on a master craft or CC, my husband would be upset, but we would be together, eating nothing but ramen, but happy. If I had spent 20K on a Reinell.... I would be a divorced woman now.
There is a feeling among the tow boat owners that if you know enough to buy a "real" tow boat, then you are safer to be around, actually know how to handle you boat, and will not be pulling tubers at 7 am. If you are driving an I/O, you have to prove you are a decent driver, respectful of other's sets, and can ride.
All that being said... enjoy your boat. |
