ski rixen cable park!

Ok this is the second time this has happend to me and it sucks! I live in miami and drove allll the way up to deerfield beach to ride at that cable park called ski rixen.. and it was closed! apparently its closed on monday. does any one else ever go there?

Always call before hand because sometimes you can get there and they rented the park out to a private party. I ride during the week its the best time to go there because theres no crowd. by the way i did see dave from 305 at the ronix thing this weekend. if you want to meet up at rixen sometime during a weekday other than monday Laughing

I am sorry to post here but I have a question. How is the attitud of the park with beginers like me? I have never done cable before. Do they have someone that teaches you how to start? I know you do not start from the water like in the boat. And there is no wake. Thank you

They have lessons you can take but its not really neccesary, if you tell them youve never ridden a cable before they will make you start out on the kneeboard and do a couple of laps before you can wakeboard. the attitude is relaxed you can go up to any of the regualrs and ask tips or just hangout. personally i think its easier to start on the cable because you start standing up or you can sit and your board is already above the water.

Yeah it was really cool i was actually surprised to see so many faces that i recognized. It was my first time at the projects and i was impressed that place is awesome. They also had the guru board and olympic tramp that you could demo.

All the equipment looked top notch i think theres a thread in genral wake with pics of all the new gear.

That does suck. Do you go to school at UM? I'm thinking about going there, its cool that they have a wakeboarding club and that there's a cable park kinda close.

Lake Lanier, GA. I just got into wakeboarding last summer and definitely want to continue while I'm in college. I'm hooked. I'm thinking if I go to UGA I would start a club, even though I'm not that good. THink a lot of people would join?

It doesnt matter if ur not that good yet... practice seriously makes u bbetter so keep working at it and u'll be fine. If you advertise it well enough I bet they would join... let me know if u ever come to florida 2 ride at the cable park.

I definitely will. I've never been at Ski Rixen but I've gone to OWC and absolutely loved it. Everyone was so nice and helpful with my technique!

Ski Rixen! I'm from Texas and ride Texas ski ranch as my home cable, but made it down to rixen for cable nationals last year. It's a really cool atmosphere and the people are great. I hope to make it down there again soon. Looking forward to my next flordia trip! P.s if any of yall that live in flordia are ever in texas hit up texas ski ranch, I'd say its one of the best cables in the world!!

It's in San marcos, inbetween austin and san antonio on I35. Its a good 4 hours from dallas though....

I think I'm going to Miami in March, I want to check out the Pan Ams and I also want to go to Ski Rixen. I want to learn to hit some sliders! I've never done it before, or rode cable, so I'm excited! Is it too hard to hit the sliders the first time? (I'm afraid Ill fall flat on my face and break my nose!)

I'll be there for Pan Am as well! It should be a great competition, because its the first big one of the season! Rixen doesn't have many rails, but they do have one small rail thats good to learn on, if your left foot forward, it is set up on your heel side. Its small enough that if you don't hit it right you'll just plop of to the side with no harm done, so no worries!

hey let me know when u come down so we can ride. I'll go up to rixen. I never heard of the pan ams... but i forgot all about the board up. I think I'll try and compete in that one... but i dono ive been wakeskating mostly lately and have yet to leanr any tantrums or any handle grabs Sad

cadence_131, that would be great! Ill let you know once Im set on the dates... I'm thinking of going around March 8 until the 21, that way I can catch the last day of the PanAms and the BoardUp. Then have enough time to go to the cable one day, I want to call up Dave to go for a ride as well and I have to have time for some shopping Mr. Green

I told my boyfriend that if he goes to Miami when I'm there, Ill treat him to a day at rixen Very Happy

And I have another friend who may be there around the same dates, so we want to go together. The only one who's not going to be happy about all these wakeboarding plans I'm making is my mom LOL

ripperchick, i really like wakeskating... i plan to only do that next time i go to the cable and work on getting a shuv... i cant tell u how many bruises and a nasty grip tape burn from trying and im getting impatient... but its fun and i'll get it evenually lol but yeh, im sure u'll love it, what kind o board do u have?

carpe diem 39.75, i heard this board was supposed to be amazing so i splurged, but i think it will be well worth it. It hasn't been delivered yet though and I'm getting impatient i ordered at almost a week and a half ago, but i guess good things take time

k first of all... I DID IT AGAIN!!!! I went to ski rixen.. checked the website- they said they were open... and they were CLOSED!! thats what the 3rd timenow?? lol go ahead make fun of me.. i learned my lesson- i'll start calling haha.

criswb, i know this one girl who will probably enter. she entered tige and in that choppy ass water landed a roll to revert i think it was.... but i dont know.. my friend also did it and she only had wake jumps. but i think it would be fine to enter any way. go for it.

) and have fun! I am pretty excited as this is my first international comp, and also the first time I get to see this kind of competition in person.

I though they were the same board, size 39.75, but i wouldn't know. I got it yeasterday and it looks great. I probably won't be able to ride it till March, with it being so cold. I cant wait till then, i hear nothing but good things about that board How do you like yours so far?

its when u kik the board on the surface 180 degrees and land bak on it. ur body doesnt spin just the the board. hopefully i'll move on to bigger better things tho lol... all i have is that, lip slides back/front side, some what of a wake jump and surface 3's back/front side. oh and ollies. i guess those r the basics so look into those after u get comfy riding Very Happy
