Hey what's up´? I'm landing my toe backroll almost everytime on the board, but the thing is that I'm landing it without the rope: almost at the last second the rope gets out of my hand because of the boat's pull, so I was thinking, instead of letting my back hand drop from the handle almost right at the beginning of the flip (that's what I'm doing right now), should I hold with two hands the entire flip?? would that help ??
Thanks for the help!

hanssapo, holding with both hands through the whole trick will want to pull you around to revert. when you are 1/2 to 3/4 of the way through the trick and you've spotted your landing, take your back hand off of the handle. keep it a little bit in towards your waist through the whole trick as well so when you let go, you have some slack with you so the handle doesn't get ripped out. good luck.

while were on the topic of toeside backrolls, When I do them I get the full rotation, and I hold on to the handle the whole time, but I'm always getting pulled halfway to revert, and just sliding out. I can't seem to land on edge. Any ideas? I've been trying moving my hand to my front butt cheek area, but the same result. I can't seem to keep my front foot from pointing back towards the boat.

LakeIolaLuke, likely you're getting too much slack in the rope when you throw the trick - hence, pulling it towards your bum will not help anything because there it no tension (but it's hard to say without seeing it on video, just a guess from your description) or coming off your edge at the top of the wake. Try taking a shorter cut, but cutting a littler harder.

From the sounds of it you are cutting a little too wide and slowing at the top of the wake while throwing the trick off the wake and not popping the trick enough with the proper body/edge position at the top of the wake; without the pop from the sharp edge through the wake you will get kicked around to switch.

Much easier to help in person, but I hope this helps.

When I throw mine I keep both hands on the handle until I'm inverted, then drop my back hand. The key is to keep the handle at your hip and not let it go over your head. There should not be that much tension that you can't hold onto the rope.

Even when you let go with your back hand make sure to keep the handle at your lead hip to prevent you from going half-way to revert.

I need to post a video. I think I'm edging right, progressive and snapping my feet out and tucking and all, and I don't hold on with both hands. As soon as I get a video I'll check back.

Holding on with both hands on a toeside backroll does not pull you to revert. If you are going to revert, it is your edge and your take off. The proper technique for a toeside backroll is keeping both hands on the handle and dropping your back hand from the middle towards the end of the invert to regulate your rotation. If you are not going to flip enough, drop your back hand earlier to speed up your rotation and visa versa

take a good edge away from the wake so you are out pretty far, the boat will begin to start pullin you towards it, at that time, begin your edge putting more weight on your front foot than usual. ride tall at the top of the wake and throw your body UP, not back, and look up as you begin the back roll, throw your head back and try to spot the wake as soon as you can, as u spot it, release your back hand and correct your body by pushin the handle towards or away from the wake. now grab and tweak Cool Cool Cool
