So I am looking at getting an new boat and I wanted to know what the most hours that I should be looking for? I can't spend a ton of money but I need something that will be better for wakeboarding. I want to step up the wakeboarding game. Also what would be the best boat to go with??

WAKEBOARDREPORT - I dissagree with the 250 hr/10,000 mile comparison. 250 hr divided by 50 hr = 5 oil changes Therefore I think its more like 25,000 miles. Just my 2cents worth

h2obug, yup you are correct. I was mistaken.

I guess I just feel that the boat hours vs car miles argument is difficult because boats are just exposed to far fewer harmful elements, and tend to be used much less than a car. My Super Air has less than 100 hours on it and everything about it "feels" brand new. Our Ski Nautique has 800 on it, and the engine is the best part of it. The Ski Nautique that I sold had 1001 on it when it sold and it was ready for much more.

Anyway - this thread was very good information on the topic:

There are several people that think 2000hrs is about the time when to expect major engine work - manifolds, heads, valves, bearings, pistons, etc. Of course this will vary based on how much love the boat had by previous owners.

I have seen lots of posts with varying formulas for mileage conversion and can only say there is no consensus.
