So I was thinking about having a nice little vacation next summer. Me and my friends love the lake and love to wakeboard so I was thinking about doing a trip to lake powell next summer. We would rent a house boat and some jet skis and take my boat and my buddies. I was thinking about takeing 10 people or so so that would bring down the cost a little bit. I was thinking that with a cheaper houae boat and all the food and gas that it would cost us like $700 a person. So 10 people at $700 each that would give us $7000.00 for everything. Does this sound about right?? I saw picture of lake powell. It looks hella nice. I have been to Shasta years ago and it was fun but it wasn't big enough. Is there anywhere else that you all might think be better?? Let me know!!

That really depends on how long you are planning on staying at Powell. The bigger houseboats at Powell are $1,000 a day to rent during peak season. So for a 7 day trip, renting a 59'+ houseboat you may struggle to get it paid for 7K. Though if you go into the value season, which I prefer....you could do that.

We have never gone for 7 nights either..... Our last 4 night trip was around $3-500 a person(depending on where you were sleeping) and that did not include tow boat gas or food. That is just by memory, but feels right.

If you travel the lake a lot and are using the central air on the houseboat, your gas cost can be HUGE.
