I want to build my first slider. Since itll be the first ive ever hit its gonna be an easy one (ride on and only 15 feet) If all goes well ill be building more in the future. So heres the plan...15 foot slant flat bar. Im thinking Ill need the following...please correct me if Im wrong.
+15 feet of 4x4 (Supports, 2 feet into sand, 3 feet of water, first support is less than 5 ft, last more so I think itll work out to be about 15)
+15 feet of 2x4 (For the base of where youll slide)
+30 feet of 2 inch PVC (two pieces of 15 feet side by side for actual sliding surface)
+screws
Anything else? To angle it I was just going to cut the 4x4s at a very slight angle at the top where theyll connect to the 2x4. Do I need more supports or cross supports to triangulate it or will it be sturdy? Also, about how much will I have to spend? 20, 50, 75? Thanks |

Don't get PVC, get trex. PVC rails suck ass. you'll be bored with a 15 foot slider in no time, but since it's your first one, go for it, it's best to start small. If I were you, I would just turn a canoe upside down if you have one, that's free, and it takes no time build. Just my 2 cents, but I wouldn't put much effort into a 15 foot rail _________________

I know trex is better but I want to have a variety. Im gonna build a few and just wanted to start w/ PVC because I thought itd be cheaper. Why does PVC suck so much? And maybe Ill make it 20, we'll see. |

Again, what would be the cost for something like this? What if I made it 20ft? |

I don't like PVC rails because my fins get hung up between the pipes when I'm spinning, but if you get used to 'em, i guess use what works for you. _________________

34substance, in this case: nothing. Im going to drive the 4X4s about 2 feet into the sand. |

LFADAM, I made a slider similiar to what you're proposing. Pictures are here, but basically we made the just the rail part, and then just hammered down 3 sets of 2x4s into mud every 6 feet or so, and bolted on the rail part later. We can adjust ours with about 20 minutes of work into a flat bar as well.
Let me know if you have any questions. _________________ Impossible is not a a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.

besides driving 4x4s, you can either float it with 55 gal drums or build it like a permanent and put 4x4s perpendicular to the vertical supports at the bottom. You have to have perfectly flat bottom for that or itll be tipsy. |

LFADAM, Go with trex you can get it at lowes or homedepot. 15 feet would be like $30 and it wont mess up your board as much.... you wont get caught on it and it wont break as easy |
