I have a 88 indmar 351. It started to miss a couple days ago, this happens at idle and low speeds. Its not really sluggish on take off and at 20mph plus it goes away and accelerates great from that spot. I am gonna check the plugs in the morning and see what they look like but i was wondering if it could be an underlying issue to look out for or fix.
Thanks and if anyone knows where i can get a repair manual for the indmar ford engine let me know. |

If the engine's missing, you better go find it...ha ha ha
There is an Indmar manual, but it's pretty basic, skiDIM may sell them
Have you done the basic plugs/points/wires/cap/rotor/timing, etc.
Could be a carb issue as well _________________ just broad reachin' thru life... |

| Sounds like a spark problem to me. Check the points, plugs, tips, or anything to do with spark like wesgardner said. |

| You may also want to pull the distributor and check it out. A buddy of mind was chasing this problem for months. New distributor made everthing great again. After plugs, wires, carb. Even a marina saying it jump timing and may need a new engine. |

| Thanks everybody for input i took the plugs out and what im guessing is the person who owned it before me dropped the plug and bent it making the gap too smalland it finally got hot and and then build up on it caused a constant connection. Now i have a new problem tanny wont go into reverse what fun. Velvet drive 1:1 in a 88 ski centurion w/351 |

the engine on my malibu was missing in a very similiar manner to yours and the problem was low tranny fliud due to a leak in the tranny seal. needless to say the seal was replaced under warranty and the fluid filled and now no more problem. so you might want to check your fluid. |

It might because of carbon build up. Theres a product called seafoam and cleans all the crap out it. My boat did that same thing. I did that and it ran like a dream afterwards. _________________ www.sawakesports.com |
