My 7 and 9 year old tried wakeboarding for the 2nd time last Sunday. They both pop right up. They ride for about 1 minute before wiping out. As soon as they both get up they cannot stay behind the boat. They drift outside the wake on the port side. They make it over the wake okay. But when they get all the way outside and I turn the boat they normally wipe. I am new to this and trying to figure this out. Any ideas are appreciated.
They are both excited and I dont want them to get discouraged. |

hmm well are you asking fo rhelp driving or how for them to stay in the wake? to stay in the wake they need to make sure they have the weight on there back foot to keep from goin all over, they will have more comfortable then.
as for driving. Im not a driver, my dad does that but... maybe since you said that when you turn is when they fall because you going over your own waves making them fall or just creating sum water too hard to board on, while there out of the wake.
hope that helped... |

when you turn, are they on the inside of your turn, cuz if they are, then theres not enough pull from the boat and they'll sink, and fall
if they're on the outside, they're gonna have to lean in and turn with the boat, or they're gonna catch an edge. _________________ |X|anadu |

More than likely they are cutting out heelside, its what is most comfortable . Humans just have more natural heel side edge balance. Get them to lean more on the toeside to stay behind the wake. This took a long time for my 10 year old to learn. She would cut real hard heelside as soon as she got up, and then be stuck outside the wake. Now she can cross the wake. I would encourage her by telling her its alot calmer behind the boat, as the boat flattens out alot of chop. _________________ WakeSurf and Wakesurfing News |
