|
|
I just bought a 2002 hyperlite belmont with liquid force bindings, have been out 3 times on it. first time, i could barely get my feet into the bindings without lube, and getting them out was very painful, 2nd time i used some shaving cream, 3rd time used dishsoap and water. The lube concoctions makes it easy to get my feet in, and the bindings are comfortably snug while i am riding, but when i go to take them off it is IMPOSSIBLE, i actually have to lift my feet out of the water, have someone pour the soapy water into the opening for my toes and let it all soak through- and then i can slide out.
so my question is, does this mean my bindings are too tight, or is there a trick to getting your feet out at the end of a run? |

Being a newbie myself, I know what you're talking about.
At first, it was like giving birth (my wife agrees) trying to get the boots off. Her and I are about the same shoe size, and it was the same for both of us. Now that they're more broken-in, we can both get them on and off without lube. Give 'em some time to flex a little. When you go to take them off, just make sure all possible adjustments are all the way loose, and wiggle them around a bit before trying to get your feet out. _________________ -Travis

You really just need to break them in more. _________________ It won't be easy, but when I get there it will be one of the most satisfying journeys of my life. |

I got some good advice on here that worked for me. Instead of trying to slowly twist and pull them out, try and pop them out in one quick jerk. Works for me. _________________ "This is looking really good" |

I used to have that problem with my Zeus, but I discovered that if I open the hinges, point my toes forward (to fully open the binding) and while lying in the water, thrast about pushing with one leg and pulling with the other it pops off in a second or two.
I know your bindings aren't hinged but maybe trashing about in the water could help you too. |

someone recommended using suntan oil, spraying it into the binding- and since it isn't water soluble it'll still be slippery when i need to remove my feet. the board/boots were used so i don't know if it'll break in at all.
i was already thrashing around in the water cussing at the board- i felt like i was going to have to amputate. |

Don't use oil, you don't want a slippery binding while riding. Your foot will keep slipping forward. _________________ "This is looking really good" |

| My old bindings sucked to get out of. What worked for me was to get the laces loose and then get the board under me in the water so I was vertical. Then just jump away from the board, the water will push down on the board when you jump and will hold it mostly in place. Falling hard is always fun too. |

Here's what you do (and I know, I have to use lube to get into my boots).
1) Make sure the straps are loose.
2) Grab the center of the board between the bindings with both hands, in the same position you'd be in the water in when you're starting.
3) Pull weak foot/front foot out first (it's usually smaller than your strong foot)
4) Plant weak foot next to strong foot on board and pull strong foot out.
Biggest thing is to grab the board edge between the bindings. That lets you pop your heel from the foot base and get your feet out.

Might want to try a new set of bindings since the ones you have are used, they may not form to your feet. _________________ In God We Trust

| the first time I put on my '05 parks bindings, it took me about 20 minutes to get them on (forgot the lube at the truck). Then, a few minutes into riding - face plant and thrown out of them. But it only took me a minute to get back into them. But when I was done, it was struggle to get out of them again. I had to kick and scream and they finally came off. Later that day, it was a lot easier to put them on and get them off - but that is when I used lube to help! |

same thing happened with my bindings. i have larges at the moment and when i bought xxl they seemed smaller than my larges. I have skiis for feet so it was so hard to get out.
to break them in just stick some beer bottles in them and soak them in warm water. worked for me. |

feigl, those are wakeskates....different then wakeboards. Wakeskates are meant to not have bindings, i'm definitely gonna suggest you use your bindings with your wakeboard...... _________________ It won't be easy, but when I get there it will be one of the most satisfying journeys of my life. |

| I'd just wait for them too break in a bit more there gunna be stiff for a bit and make sure they r fully loose and stretched out when you take em off... if you put too many different lubes oils creams etc. in them repeatedly its going to mess em up ( eat at rubber, discolor overlays, make them slip while you ride, grow wierd stuff in em, etc etc) |

MattStrykul, How did your dad get out?
NO worries on not being able to get out of your bindings... we've all been there. (unless you still use wake sandals) It just takes a little getting use to. before you know it you'll be able to get a brand new pair on and off dry no problem. Just be careful going to a larger size just because you have a hard time getting your proper size off, too big = not enough support which = broken stuff. |

I don't know what your financial situation is, but either demo or buy a pair of any of the 05-present upper division liquid force bindings and you'll be very happy with the ease of the in/out of the bindings.
I know what you're talking about, but in all honesty paying the extra for the convenience of getting in and out of the binding is fully worth it in my opinion. _________________ Neuston Boards
