|
|
In the next couple of years, I might start searching for a wakeboard specific boat. There are a couple of things that I want for sure though, and wanted to know which boats came with these options. There are just so many manufacturers and models, its a big search.
Specs I want:
At least 22' open bow
Vdrive
Walk through (thru) transom
Snap in/out carpet
Obviously, I am interested in wake as well, but Im not a pro, and never will be. My boat will be used for recreation (mainly watersports), but also some cruising and of course, hanging out. We take our dogs with us often (which is why I want the snap in/out carpet), and I think the walk-through transom is just a great feature.
If anybody knows of a specific boat that matches these, I would be interested in researching them, and eventually going for a test drive.
BTW, Centurion Avalanche seems to fit these specs, except Im not sure about the carpet, or what years?

I think centrion mastercraft and moomba are the only ones with snap in/out carpet. you might check for an older moomba kanga it had a true walkthrough transom. I dont think mastercraft has any walkthroughs and maybe not the carpet but i thought it was part of their saltwater series.

| I'm not sure you'll find snap in carpet in many wakeboard boats, with the exception of maybe the x-star & other MC saltwater series. The reason being that it is costly to make a reverse mold...or a seperate mold for the interior. I know the x-star is completely snap-in carpet and the last gen. mobius' has snap in for the bow only...but those are the only two that I know of...

The Centurion Avalanche comes in a Walk thru version that fits all your requirments.
The Avalanche has been built since 01 and has always had the snap out carpet and a walk thru version.
FYI my dealer has a left over 05 Avalanche with the walk thru but you have to like lime green

Thanks guys. krbaugh, that boat looks good - when I read "lime green" I was picturing the hull to look like the incredible Hulk. As it sits, thats a sharp looking boat - lime green isnt my favorite, but it isnt terrible. And that is exactly what I was wondering about how long they have been made.
Also, from what I have read, Centurion seems to have the deepest "V", which should be good for rougher water and cruising. I wish I could win the lottery!

The new 2007 Supra 22SSV (sunsport V) has a walk through transom, or at least steps to the transom. I think snap in carpet is an option, but you may check their website to make sure.

Don't know about snap in carpet but the 24 Sunsport and the new 22 Sunsport have the coolest walk thru of them all. The back hatch door lifts up to an underlying walk thru that also lifts up for storage. That is what the steps lead to! So technically you have a handrail with the storage door open for old folks too!

Yeah the Cenurion Enzo SV230 has had The back hatch door lifts up to an underlying walk thru that also lifts up for storage since 2004 GREAT idea best of both worlds. Of course you have to take the time to lift it up

This one is a no-brainer to me: Nautique SV-211.
The only part of your criteria it falls short of is the length, which is 20'-9" (without platform). If that's just too small, then check out the 226, which is 2 feet longer.

Don't know about the 226 but the wake on the 211 sucks. (I am serious) At least the 2 times I was behind it. (1200 lbs of ballast and I was having trouble squeaking out inverts!)

Road Head, the Avalanche that Kevin posted is absolutely gorgous in person. We looked at it when we bought our Enzo from them.
We went with the Enzo because my husband liked the HUGE interior. Also, I prefer the walk through on the Enzo. It is much wider than the Avalanche, and I liked that the "pull up" back cushion acts as a hand rail for little ones..
But...all that said, go check out that Avalanche if you have the time. It is a beautiful boat, and loaded up! Bet they would give you a great deal, too, huh Kevin??

| Road Head, When I first read your post I was thinking of the Avalanche would be perfect and krbaugh, nailed it for you. And yes centurions have deeper Vs than others which should make them better to cruise in.

| Thanks for all the input. The Avalanche is a beautiful boat. However, I saw a 2000 Mastercraft Prostar 190 this weekend, WOW! - this guy's boat was spotless and it was incredibly nice. I started browsing the Mastercraft selection, and really like the Maristar's as well. Good thing I have a couple years to do my research and take test drives!

I could recomend checking out the session 22si. This boat has all u want and the snap in carpet is a standard feature. I've ridden behind this boat and it throws a pro level wake with the 3 tank ballast. Its pretty roomy and can seat about 7-9 people comfortably. Check it out

He went from an Avalanche to a Prostar 190! OK!
The lime green on that Avalanche looks pretty descent. Is that an "Ike" model?

I didnt say I wanted a 190, I just saw one and it was such a nice boat, that I started browsing Mastercraft's boat lines to see what they offered. I really liked the Maristar, except for no walk-through transom. So far the Avalanche is probably my favorite boat out of all that have been suggested because it meets my specs, but the Mastercraft line of boats are gorgeous. The Session and the Tige's are also extremely nice.

The MasterCraft X-30 has a walk through transom. The center piece of the sundeck and corresponding seat cushion are removable. There is a textured walkway underneath. This is only true of 06'+ X-30's.

| Road Head, I understand what your saying. The MC's are very nice, no doubt. But, you also pay for all those standard options. Centurion on the other-hand sells a lot of moderately equipped boats, including the Avalanche, at a lower price. Don't get me wrong though, a fully loaded Avalanche will cost you some serious change. But at least they GIVE you that option. I have been very satisfied with my 05', and would buy another Centurion easily. The Avalanche has a huge "lippy" wake for wakeboarding, and probably the best surf-wake other than the Enzo.

| Sorry about that double post. The CC 211 is a bite smaller overall. Nice boat, two of my friends have them. They do cost 10-15k more than my boat.

Is a walk-through transom the same as a walk-through bow?
I thought the transom was the rear outside of the boat.
