Okay ive only had an inboard for a year or two and have heard before that you have to replace the packing where the drive shaft goes thru the hull? is this correct and how is it done? because my friends boat has so much water coming in that is was up to our ankles standing in the back when we had somebody behind the boat?

Is the boat a 1990 Malibu Euro f3? Are you sure it is the packing glands? Did you inspect the area while you were underway? If not, could it be fiberglass exhaust pipes that run from the rear of the manifolds, outboard to the transom? On our direct drive they cracked due to the weight from our ballast and caused the symptoms you describe. Ski Dim had the parts necessary to fix this.

Could be a couple of things. I've seen boats take on water from packing glands, improperly fastened hoses, missing frost plugs, heater cores, heaters not hooked up after winterization, blown waterpumps, water coming in through blower vents when boat is weighted.

Can you isolate where the water is coming in from?

I see you are in Coon Rapids, have you stopped by Son Watersports? In a pinch hit them up or us (Midwest MasterCraft) regardless of your make, either of us should be able to get you back in action.
