I was looking at an ad for a 1996 Sport Nautique. No tower, but it has a "Skylon pylon extension" included. Do these fit right over the existing pylon in the boat? How long are they? Do you need the cables running to the nose of the boat for these extensions.
Also any recommendations for a good tower for this boat and the cost?
I'm thinking I'll have to add sacs to get a good wake too, don't really like that, but the price and condition of this boat is superb. Thanks.

the extended pylon most likely has a strap to the front. The easiest way to find out is to call the owner, tell him your interested, and ask about it.
Other than that, a tower will look better. There are many options out there for a tower too.
For the expensive route, you can go custom.
For the afordable route, you can go universal.
Both have their benefits and negatives, mostly surrounding fitment and price, as style is subjective.

I think I'm thinking of something different here. It's just called an exteneded pylon. I remember seeing a picture of a couple of sport nautiques with these on them. It looks like it only is about a 3 foot extension to the existing pylon. I didn't see any cables going to the bow area, but was just making sure they weren't needed? Not sure how much good 3 extra feet will do ya?

| You deffinatly need that strap up at the front.. if its not there then it wont be able to take all the pull from a rider... it compinsates. Without it.. you'd probably bend your existing pylon from all the top force.

| Yeah the pylon extensions are nice but they make them 7 ft or less. We got a 10 ft pole back in the day and it was advertised as 10 ft. we got it measured it up 6'10" so my uncle called them up and got an actual 10 ft one. the major downside to them is that if you pull anything other than wakeboarding it can wreck the existing pylong because if you tube on a turn it pulls from the side and there is no counter pull from the opposite side.
