Squats, crunches, weights, and tie a ski rope to a tree, lean back(sideways) and pull the rope in to your side. This is a real shoulder burner. _________________ In God We Trust

I'm with you on tbhis one. My season ended on labour day because the cool weather doesn't justify keeping the boat in the water.
I snowboard for the love of the sport, not to help my wakeboarding. Is there much in the way of decent hills in Manitoba?
But if you really want to make the 9-10 month long Canadian off-season better I highly recommend a trampoline club, if you can find one. Our club has a program for "extreme" sports (wakeboarding, ski jumping, diving) |

Hahah you could do what my buddies and I are planning on doing. We're making a winch for wakeboarding but using it for snowboarding on an old almost abandoned golf course. Could be a disaster but it's worth a try _________________

I live around Toronto and i actually posted the same question early on in the season..I have never snowboarded but I think i am gonna give it a try this year..I love wakeboarding so much and friends have told me it "feels" very similar on the snow, just you can cut harder on the snow! The only difference for me is that at least when you fall with wakeboarding its on water..when you fall snowboarding i've heard people have broke their wrists, and im sure theres a number of other injuries as well!!
But i need to stay in shape for next season of wakeboarding....DAMN THESE LONG CANADIAN WINTER MONTHS!!!! |

Xanadu: You gotta love 3 feet of snow, when we get it. It's the winter rain and ice we get here in Ottawa that sux. And minus 20 isn't bad for riding. Minus 30 is my limit.
FROMWITHIN: Go for it! Start with a lesson. Go out at least 3 times before you decide if you like it. And injuries happen. Common factors are: beginner rider, young male, lack of mountain experience, no instruction, and not wearing protective gear. I've heard of too many people renting a board to give it a try. They get hurt because they don't know what they're doing and give up on an awesome winter sport. You can avoid pain and potential injury if you wear a helmet, wrist guards and butt padding (an old pair of hockey pants works). When you get better you can drop the butt padding.
Pray for snow! |

Snowboard you should learn quickly but do take a lesson and wear protectivegear it helps.
Also know your limits:
Newly waxed poarder X board saved up and bought it / young male attitude / completely empty run / 60+ km/h / lost focus and edge on ice / few flips and bounces latter / two broken wrist guards and wrists / feeling fairly stupid / stuck with a rep of being crap / up side I kill them all when they arrogantly agree to a race! _________________ I may be the most unco guy in the world but mabey that is because I always go big so I know I have the most fun. |

DadKid: I love ice and snow.. drifting..now there's something you can't do in Florida. yeah i know what you mean about the temperature for riding.. i wax my board, and the wax i have is for -7 and warmer, -7 to -11, or -11 and colder.. its always -11 or colder. _________________ |X|anadu |

Move to Texas or Florida and wakeboard for 8-9 months out of the year. _________________ But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions -- it is by grace you have been saved.

glenman2001, Snowboarding and watching wake DVD's worked best for me. Or of course if you have the means go to a wake camp down in Florida for a week. You'll be amazed how much you will learn _________________ Does this rag smell like chloroform?
