now for the last year or so i have been riding at 22 to 24 mph. i was wondering if that was sort of slow for average. also i have had touble really clearing the wake, i thought that maybe ther might be a way to hit the wake properly, maybe and angle or stance? or if it is possible that the boat could be creating a wake that might not be helping me. ('94 bayliner inboard/outboard runabout with a tower). thanks for any input.

Thats about the right speed. But more than likely your Bayliner has the tube type speedo, which is always off and inconsistent. I use a handheld GPS to keep speed in my I/O.

As far as charging the wake, I'm no expert, but I can clear my wide a$$ wake. I cut out nice and wide, start to edge towards the wake with a progressive edge. Meaning you edge harder as you get closer to the wake. By the time you get to the wake you should be in a knees bent stance, and then right at the wake you stand tall. Don't absorb the wake with your knees, use it to launch you. Dont flatten the board out when you get to the wake either, keep on edging right through your jump, and keep edging when you land.

You also might want to add some weight to your bayliner to maximize the weight. I/O's benefit most from weight in the bow, and trimming up the motor to shape the wake.

Seems a little fast to me, but whatever works for you. You should be leaving the wake at about 60 degrees off parallel to the boat, or more.

On the trim, play with it until the wake doesn't have white foam on the top of it. That's where it's hardest and you'll get the best pop.

I ride at 20, so i find 24 a little fast. Are you using a progressive edge?
