I am finally getting my progressive edge down, and my backroll attempts are going w2w easy and I am landing on the board. I just can't stop rolling to revert. I have searched the topic and followed most of the bacroll topics. Last night I started trying to let go with my back hand, and that seemed to slow my rotation down (making it look better), but did not keep the board from coming around. Sometimes I land 50/50, and sometimes it goes all the way to revert, both of which lead to me sliding out on my ass. Any other tips other than letting go with the backhand?

Also, I have a bad habbit of shutting my eyes, and then reopening them right before the landing, probably because I am still nervous about my lasik getting screwed up. I know there are probably no pointers for this other than "Keep your damn eyes open you idiot" but I figured I would ask. As you come around are you suppose to look for the tower or the opposite shore?

Thanks for any input.

When you're coming down, pull the handle back towards the wake... this controls your rotation and should keep you from going to revert.

If you push the board away from the boat too much this will happen.

Leave the wake pushing the board up and away instead of pushing so hard it goes out the back off the wake.

It is true to some extent that you will land the way you leave the wake so pay attention to how you leave the wake.

Also, keep your lead hand on the handle and pull it in towards your front hip. If you Just hold on and let the handle go away from your hip, you'll get spun around

Regarding your eyes -- you can wear goggles that will give some protection when you faceplant. You'll probably have to put up with someone's smart@$$ remarks, but they're your eyes, you'll have to live with the damage, not the moron giving you crap. You'll also get the benefit of not having to deal with bright sunlight in your eyes.

I think I am definatley throwing the board away from the boat way to much. I thought I read that you were suppose to try and edge away from the boat, but I think I may be taking this principle to the extreme once in the air. It makes since now that I think about it. I do better at keeping the handle in with both hands on it, but it tends to get pulled out when I let go with the backhand. It seems like it would be hard to keep it in one handed with line tension.

Thanks for all the input. I will try and get a video this weekend. I feel like I am getting close.

Hangtime, I tried wearing googles right after the surgery (when I wasn't suppose to be doing anything active), but I hated the tunnel vision and they kept fogging up. Then I wiped out and they got jerked down around my neck. I then was worried they were going to do more damage to my eye than the water, so I waited the suggested time before wakeboarding again.

who ever told you to push the handle back towards the wake was talking out of their rear. if you push the handle out towards the flats that will help you stop your rotation. think about it, when you pull the handle to your back hip or towards the wake, you will keep spinning to revert. Or you could just let go with your back hand about 3\4 through the rotation.

Thanks for all the advice, I finally stuck one this weekend. The one handed thing helped, but I think by big problem was throwing the nose of the board away from the boat when launching off the wake which sent me into a rotation as well as the cartwheel. I was too beat to try another one, and decided to end on a good note, hopefully it wasn't just luck. Laughing
