older boats

This past summer I got really into wakeboarding and I'm looking to get a boat for next summer. The only thing is, will older boats (low-mid 90s) still work for wakeboarding? I know that the designers sort of had to reverse all of their techniques from making no wake, to creating monster wakes for wakeboarding. I have been riding behind a mastercraft x star and love the wake. Will like a 1994 tige, or nautique still produce a decent sized wake weighted down?
