|
|
Well here it is guys...narrowed down to just two boats. Decided we're gonna stick with the Malibus. We love their interiors, they drive awesome, just a great boat. Now comes the tough choice.
2005 Malibu Wakesetter 23 foot LSV
Fully loaded, 25 hours, showroom boat, Sony Stereo Everything is nearly identical to the 2006 Wakesetter VLX. Only difference is, slightly bigger, using perfect pass instead of the new cruise control from Malibu. And...the colors. Navy Blue and "Zephyr" aka, Tan. Here are the pics.
2006 Malibu Wakesetter VLX
Fully loaded, 4 Hours, basically new, all kicker speakers. Orange and Black...the color.
And so there you have it ladies and gentleman. The two boats we can't decide btween. We're torn because the Orange and Black we love, yet we're totally afraid that resale value will suck on it, and will we get tired of it. Our old Xstar was nearly the same color as the 23 LSV. Now its come down to flipping a coin. We love both, the Wakesetter VLX is about 3 grand more than the 23 LSV...give me your opinions guys. Ones a 2005 vs. a 2006. Ones a "look at me boat" while the other is a more "i blend in with the crowd". Both throw a sick wake. And I already have a redic. sound system planned for either boat. Help me out!

I would say the orange and black. I haven't seen that before and I dont think you'd have trouble re-selling it. Most people in our "realm" like the more flashy things in life.
Either way you are getting a beautiful boat. Congratulations! |

I think they are both very, very nice boats. I can see how the decision would be tough. I wouldnt want to have to make the call. Whichever one you decide on im sure you will be pleased. God, these pictures are awful. I wish I had taken my camera to take these pictures. Anyway, yeah I still can't decide. I'm in such a bind trying to decide.

| I like the orange and black. I like boats that stand out and I think by the time you're ready to eventually part with it the demographic that will be able to afford it will prefer that color maybe even over the blue/tan boat. Never ridden behind an LSV but my friends 05VLX is very nice. |

| If you have no problems with storage or towing, i'd say LSV. Those boats are huge inside. That VLX is nice! I'd get the LSV though. |

| simple, the vlx, more than enough room, imo malibus precision speed is better than perfect pass..orange and black looks dope, any board racks on the 23 lsv? btw resale wont suck..the demand for towboats are going up |

VLX......
The Orange/ Black is a very sick combo.
that 23 reminds me of a Sunscape with a boat full of waterskiers, or like it belongs in an Eddie Bauer catalog. |

Again, I'm just curious have you ever driven an 06+ VLX? That is not my experiance on either my boat or the 07 VLX that I spend time on... The cruise control on the bu is ok, not great but sufficent. Definitely hunts a lot more than the PP on my old SAN... I'm not trying to bash you, but you seem to just repeat what the brochure says about the boats.
That said I think Josh pretty much summed it up, if you need a 23' ft boat get the LSV if you don't get the VLX. As far as colors go I think that the VLX will probably hold it's value quite well. The colors on the LSV are somewhat bland? _________________ wakeboards

DRAGON88, I've driven and ridden both and I agree with Nat. Of course I must say that the perfect pass was not adjusted at all. My problem with the PP is that it over-accelerates and has a bigger range around the desired speed. Also, the Malibu Precision speed was in a 247 with an 8.1 and the PP is in a 383 VLX so that may make a difference. _________________ Steal My Book

At the very least you CAN adjust the NN and KDW settings. Maybe it's just me then...
Mine is an 06 with the Monsoon and my friends '07 is a VLX with the HH. _________________ wakeboards

| DRAGON88, yea, i have driven malibus with the new speed precision, and i have ridden behind boats with pp, like j-ro said the acceleration is killer on pp, it gets you up really fast and boom immidiately your into the boats kick up, when I rode behind a 06 vlx, nice easy acceleration, had time to fool around with the wash (hs 180)..just what I noticed |

Acceleration is from the driver not from the PP? Maybe I'm just not understanding here what you guys mean, the Malibu cruise will still over shoot your selected speed usually and then slowly back it down just like PP would.
My VLX will hold about a .5-.9 mph range, which is good enough, but my PP on the SAN would usually stay within .3-.6mph of the selcted speed.
Other problems with FBY and Malibu Percision Cruise _________________ wakeboards

DRAGON88, you hit the nail on the head.
the only reasons I think cruise is better is because it's slightly easier to use, and easier to see the display in bright light.
PP on my 03' vlx seems to do better in weighted conditions, and driving D-Ups, and it does seem to hold speed closer to the setting. |
