Wakeboarding was invented long before the V-Drive. What do you think we all rode behind before V-Drives became available?

Correctly weighted, some D-Drives such as the M/C 205 produce a better wake than many wakeboard specfic boats.

................Or the 95-98 Sport Nautiques

I actually liked my Sport better than the 210. Since I don't talk much I don't need the wrap around setting thing but my wife does.

"Wrap around setting" - hmmm......That's an interesting typo! Had to think about that one for a minute - especially in the context of talking a lot!

MrBlean,

My apologies--Ever since I cut the end of my middle finger off----I've had a difficult time with "e, d, c, and a's" on the keyboard.

In most DD (except newer MC & CC's) you can take the back seat out. I don't think I ever had mine in to put one large sack in place of the seat. If it's an open bow you can put in another up there. You'll get an awesome wake for boarding and when you want to do something else--like slalom ski you have the ability to do that also.

And it's easier to teach little kids without the sacks. IMO it's a much more versitle boat and setup. Filling/draining sacks can get old but it's worth it. DD's are also A LOT easier to work on. Remove the engine cover and everything is at it's finger tips.

I've been trying to get my wife to let me sell the SAN for another Sport.

lcap - find a Sport with a special cubby hole for your wife to keep her handbag and a wrap around screen that prevents her hair from getting messed up and she'll swap out the SAN immediately Wink

jpwakejp, I have a Direct Drive, and love it.

Mine is a Supra. I have two Launch Pad lounges sitting on each side of the engine. This provides a rear facing seat for people, and allows them to stretch out. The ladies love it. And at 440lbs each. My boat's wake is absolutely awesome!!! I have guys in MC's calling to ride behind mine all the time because it's such a sharp and solid wake. Twisted Evil

And when you have 4 or 6 people in the boat, bow and stern, the wake is perfect.

For a DD I have come to the conclusion truley good weight needs to be put on both sides of the engine. Too much in the back makes to much bowrise, and a washy wake.

haugy, Thanks for the idea i have never notices those lounges before. Do you weigh your bow down at all or jsut tell people to sit up there? This may be a dumb question but im going to ask it anyways...the rated limit on my boat is 8 people or 1200 pounds... should i try to hit that? maybe those two and about 3 or 4 people would be more than 1200... or is that just something i should decide because it seems that these older ski boats are real shallow to the water

haugy, Yea I just got off my friends Supra DD today...... it is nice. Big and solid. Much better than most newer MC and really just as good as the 205. The hulls are very similar to the V drives. Just weight it properly and you are golden.
