I got an '05 CWB Flame 134 with Torq bindings for my birthday - keep in mind I had never before strapped a board on my feet. Went out yesterday to give it a shot. 1st time I lost the rope, second time I popped right up. Repeated a few times practicing getting up. My last run I accomplished my first "trick", I switched from standard to goofy, but oops, forgot to switch my balance and only rode a few seconds before crashing. Ill get that next time. plus I may try to ride finless, just to see how it goes.

I do have a question about my bindings though. They fit me fine, no problems, however, once they are on and tied up, they are not coming off. I am "strapped in". My dad and brother-in-law want to try riding, along with my sister and my wife. What is a decent set of bindings that are more related to ski boots? Im thinking some sort of rubber/neoprene combo with a velcro strap or something. I dont want laces, I want something that is easy to get on or off in the water, and will support a variety of foot sizes. And cost is a factor. These bindings will not be used for anything other than learning, and cruising, no tricks or anything. Thanks!

Mine are not the ones with hinges, but I might see if I can find a set on ebay over the winter - they look awesome. Mine are comfortable...once you get them on, but dang, they are tight - they are also brand new, I imagine once I get them broken in, they will go on a little bit easier.

I was hoping to spend as little as possible. I found a set in the classified section, some CWB Grips for $50 shipped and fit up to a size 10. That sounds reasonable to me. I just want something that are beginner friendly - easy to get on and off, and fit a variety of size so multiple people can try.

You need to get to some of that binding slime. Or use some hand soap, just make sure its ok for the enviroment. Makes getting into the binding so much easier.

As far as riding finless, I would hold off a while till you comfortably ride both regular and switch. There's no need to try to ride finless when your starting out. Just go out have fun and dont think that you arent cool unless your riding finless.
