Just wanted to remind people to be careful when wakesurfing, and make sure you or none of your buddies coil up that rope to much or to tight.
I wasnt at the cottage yet, probably wouldnt have happend if i was because Im the kind of person to yell at someone for it, but a buddy tried starting from the swimdeck and had it wrapped in his hand, didnt make the start and the rope nearly tore of his tricep.
Sp im told by the people there, it was a freaky sight and the dude was in a crapload of pain, but he also came out lucky cause it could have been much worse and tore it completly off.
whether you sound annoying or not, be that guy to make sure you dont let people hold that rope to tight. _________________ "One day Parks will teach me how to be a Professional Chase Boat Driver." |

The bight of a rope will bite you. Never have any part of a rope around your body with a secondary means of releasing it. The show skiers and trick skiers have used releases for a long time. I have one on the tower of my boat and have used it to save ski and more. I call it the Wakeboard Tower Safety Release.
If you are handle passing, you have a decent chance of getting your arm into the handle yoke or developing a loop and putting your hand through it. You won't know until it is too late. _________________ Original Boarder from 1983

| we were wakesurfing yesterday and thankfully nothing like that happened but my friend threw the rope back to me when i didnt call for it and something like that easily could have happened. also, on a hs 540 that i did, i threw the handle from my back hand to my front hand but missed and the handle went around my arm all the way up to my elbow but luckily somehow i grabbed it again and it slid off my arm before i landed but i can see how that could have turned out badly... |

I watched a guy on a wakeboard, wb rope, slowly pull himself close to the boat to wakesurf, we were on the shore and watched this kook go past us, he had 50+ ft of rope behind him.
when he got close to the boat he fell, I think he might have been kinda tired, he is lucky that rope didnt yank any body parts off
we couldnt believe what we witnessed. _________________ www.integrity-wake.com |

| muckmeister, that takes a hell of a lot of strength to do that. Pulling on a bare rope like that is tough. That is also completely stupid. I've had one of the "arm through the handle" injuries and they are not fun. |

Since we are on subject and I just started surfing whats the proper technique? I tied a loop knot in my wakeboard rope and left about 8 feet out so that I was pretty much right in the wake when I popped up. Then I pulled the rope and looped it up like an extension cord and passed it into the boat.
Whats the right way?? I dont want to spend money on a surf rope. _________________ Imagination is everything, it is the preview of life's coming attractions. |

Wait till your buddy runs over his rope. After cutting it out of the prop make whatever length sections you can with what's left. _________________

My dad did the stupidest thing ever on the weekend. He doesn't wakeboard/wakeskate or anything like that, he waterskiis. But he gets real angry at my poor mom when she drives for him cuz we don't do it 'his way'.
Anyway, he it was taking him too long to put on his ski when he fell and he was angry at either us or himself (not sure) and instead of letting us loop back around a second time to bring him the rope again, he put it over his head/around his neck. he's lucky we saw him do that, if not, there could have been a huge disaster.
We were joking around a bit about the fact that we should take the boat out of neutral and start moving slowly to scare him a bit... but decided not to risk it. We all yelled at him after for it. He can be so dumb sometimes! |

I would invest in the wakesurf rope, you can get nice straitline ones with a large beefy stubby handle for like $40.00 on ebay. _________________ "One day Parks will teach me how to be a Professional Chase Boat Driver." |

Only wakesurfed twice but we just tied knots in a large diameter tubing rope and let it out behind us about 6-8 feet in order to pull ourselves back in when we get behind. Thought that was a pretty safe way to do it. I still don't quite get the thrill of wakesurfing. Everybody told me "you've got to try surfing, you've got to try surfing!!!" None of us like it |
