Just recently we found out that one of our nearby lakes (long lake) that we ride occasionally had been contaminated with 53,000 gallons of raw sewage. Turns out the sewage plant upriver had been leaking since last May. The extremely slow current will eventaully clear the lake out, but until then we can't go down there. Anybody had this happen to them or know how long it will take to clear. _________________ i have mastered the art of the wipeout. |

This reminds me of the saying "Having a smoking section in a resturant is like having a pi$$ing section in a pool." |

Then again, can't be worse than ditchboarding the flooded ditches next to the farm land around here. who knows what kinds of fertilizer our skin is absorbing.. |

I've got a place up at deep lake so it's not all bad. I haven't gone out there since last season but imagine casing it hard and swallowing the water. great thing to have in your mind while riding _________________ i have mastered the art of the wipeout. |

| People always tell me of the diseases I am going to get riding in Lake Houston. My friend invited one of our other friends, a PhD toxicologist. He politely refused citing serious health concerns. His loss. |

d roc, when did the guy check it and did he check just nine mile? I'd like to go back there because it's so close, 5 mins in my case. _________________ i have mastered the art of the wipeout. |

You need hard data, not speculation. You are looking for fecal coliform and E Coli numbers. It is probably fine. It takes a lot of sewage to mess up a lake that large. All lakes have some levels of FC and EC, so don't get bugged by their presence. Raw sewage is mainly water in is typically very dilute. _________________ Original Boarder from 1983
