| Hey, I had a bad antique chris craft with a 350 corvette in it. It had a tight wake but it was an old boat and had an electrical short and blew me out of it 2 days ago. The boat is ruined and I am never getting another inboard boat ever again. I am lookin at a 16 ft hydrosport with a 150mercury for wakeboarding. I need to know if that is gonna be a big enough boat, wake, and strong enough or any ideas on a differ outboard boat please let me know. THANKS and be careful

I had girls do that to me quite a few times but I kept going back for the thrill
That 16' OB will suck for wakeboarding. I have a TANK of an old SeaRay Ski Ray 19' Outboard with a 200EFI and it's "OK" but I want a real wakeboard boat. This means V-Drive, great ballast system and a lot more than I can afford right now so I enjoy what I got every chance I get.
The big upside of Outboards is if you barefoot - awesome top end. At about 40mph the wake goes nearly flat and you can do some impressive cross wake work. At 45-50 one foot work and barrel rolls are a lot of fun, and at 60-65 you can even lose a bikini top once in a while

Few more things:
- Not having a platform to strap in on bites
- Two Strokes are like YZ-250's - You get smogged out from the exhaust if the wind is at your back.
- Two Strokes are like YZ-250's - Very Fast

Yea I'm curious also. Did the boat actually blow up with fire and all? I have heard of boats blowing up because they didn't use the fan. Was that the case? I think you are being very close minded. As far as the boat you are looking at the boat probably won't throw that great of a wake. Outboard motors suck for wakeboarding. If you sac it up the motor will take forever to get plained out. There is no swim platform, etc. Do you realize you are judging every inboard on the basis of some old clunker? Use your brain a little more

Have you ever owned an outboard? And I want to hear about the electrical short too. Tell more.

I think that you should be as shy of inboards as you are of boats in general. Was it the fact that it was an inboard - a suped up 350 performance motor - or was it just that it was a boat......
In reality - i dont care what you buy - you are never goin to be 100 sure you will be safe -
A true wakeboard specific boat will be a v-drive - hands down - that takes care of your inboard worries.

driftwood.....a V-drive is still an inboard boat.
I'm not sure what an electrical short on an old inboard boat has to do with inboard boats in general. What is this post all about anyway?
I'd rather get shocked and ride behind an inboard than an I/O out O/B anyway..

Any problems you have with the engine on an inboard will exist on an I/O.

while a v-drive mihgt still be considered an inboard they are typically classified differently since the motor is in the rear of the boat - even some insurance co's are startin to ask - I think his concern is the motor bein in the middle of the boat - next to the driver.
Nonetheless - I think most of us are sayin the same thing - dude - you're worryin too much - get a newer boat that you wont have dangerous issues with.

| the only problems i see with inboards is all the work that goes into engine work, but u will for the most part recieve the same problems with outboard as an inboard...all boats require maintnence.
