Most important is that is that it fits you and does what you want it to do. If you want a hyooge wake, then it should be capable of it. Otherwise, I'd say V-drive (or maybe direct drive), reliability (quick starts even when cold), enough power (for when you add 3000 pounds of ballast), decent handling, not much vibration, room for the ballast and people, it should look at least decent, not leak too much, have a decent stereo, and a tower would be nice.
Good luck _________________ Willy

| compression check is good - also check for dry rot - not many boats were all fiber until a few years ago - some still use wood - so you will need to check for soft spots in the floor - especaially near the back and where the motor mounts are attached to the stringers - use a screwdriver to push on it - it should be firm all the way around. |

You can't make a good wake with out the right hull shape, make sure you get a boat with a good hull shape for making a BIG WAKE.
Old school 2001 hull nautiques are the best for this type of situation (1983- 1986? I believe). _________________ PEACE
