Does ski rope matter???

Im wakeboarding with regular ski rope...Is this a problem? and if so, why?
I was out looking at purchasing some, figuring it would be $30-40, and its like $100 and up!!! WTF???!!!
But, if I got to do, what I got to do....then so be it!!

I am using a ski rope now... from Canadian Tire... its ok, has a bit of stretch.. and I do perfer my neighbours spectra rope... but he dropped like $169 on it... I think i will wait to perhaps next season to get a new rope..

ski ropes stretch. You might not notice it if you've only ridden a ski rope but once you ride a non-stretch rope you'll never go back. If you don't wanna spend the money I think you can buy pure spectra rope from home depot for pretty cheap. Get 65-80 feet of it. Then buy a handle off ebay.

Get a spectra line if you really want to wakeboard, you really do need it. Search on ebay... this guy (boarding007) usually has a bunch of good deals and lots of wake lines / handles.

Going from my buddies no-strech to our plain ol' ski rope you can definately tell a difference...but yea...Ebay's got great deals on all that kind of stuff...so if your willing to spend some money it's well worth it..

if your really cheap get some coated aircraft cable. but be sure not to let it get near the prop.
