Hey everyone, this is my first post here at wakeboarder.com. I have been looking at the forums, reading the topics for a while and they sure help alot.
To my question:
I have been wakeboarding for 1 year now and I am 14 about 140lbs. I just leaned to revert 180's w/fins. I have been trying to clear the wake but I am having no luck. I am going about 19mph and just peeling to the wake and I get about 3-4ft of air but am coming short of the wake? I was wondering if you had any tips on helping me clearing the "whole" wake.
PS im going out tonite so some posts would help nicely

Have the driver go 21 or 22mph, see if that helps. Otherwise shorten the rope up (if it's not already puled all the way in). The best way to get help would be to post up a video of you riding, that way we can see exactly what you're doing wrong.

Alrite, I went to the river (where I wakeboard) and I shortened the rope and went up to 23 and I was hitting the back edge of the wake with my tail. So im damn close to clearing the whole thing And that wasn't with that many people in the boat. I am thinking of getting a tower for my step-dads boat i might build one (local welder) And model it after a design used on a regular boat with a tower.

bvlaar, Hey...you're on the right track, keep working your technique...your pop will improve, remember build the progressive edge - ride ALL the way up the wake and then push off (or stand tall). - get folks in the boat to film you. watch you - THEY should be seeing more and more of the BOTTOM of your board as you progress towards the wake....you do not have to go balls to the wall as far as speed - cut out, chill, then start building your edge as you move towards the wake, bend your knees - pretend like you're trying to stop the boat, the nat the last minute stand tall...
The tower will give you more time once you're in the air - it WILL NOT GET you in the air - technique does that....good luck man, go ride! _________________ just broad reachin' thru life... |

Try to keep the handle down by your hips, it is your "steering wheel" and balance control. If you put it at your chest you not only cut out a lot of pop you could have had, but you are also setting yourself up for pain. Try that small step and I think you will get your body in a better position for pop. Other than that, not looking too bad for a year on the wakeboard. _________________ Wakeboard/Waterski/Kneeboard/Ride Random Objects

is that a fishing boat, the reason i ask is that wake looks almost exactly like mine. I found that standing up tall progressively instead of all of a sudden help me. Like cut out hard, then slowly go back in to build up the edge and as you approach the wake stand up tall. well as tall as i can. i'm 17 and 5 7 ish probebly close to your height. Hope that helps. _________________ What it do |

Hey everyone, I just went up to a friends cottage and cleared the wake every time The handle by my hips realy helped and turning towards the wake slower to get more speed did the trick.
So stoked
