Hey Guys,
Has anyone had to turn down the bass on the B530's to get them to sound like they aren't blown? Are the MB Quarts picky about the lower frequencies? Ever since new they seem to not be able to handle it. Let me know.
BTW, I have a Kenwood 600x2 or around 200 RMS at 2ohms running on them and have the Bass set to zero on the Clarion XM1 stock deck on a '03 SAN. |

You may need to adjust the cross over in your amp. Turn on the HPF (High pass filter) and adjust it until the distortion goes away. I know with my B530's it took me alittle bit of adjusting to get them sounding just right. When you have that high a volume and that much power running to them it is easy for the sound to become distorted. You gotta remember they aren't meant to reproduce bass so don't send the speaker bass frequencies. Just mid and high frequencies.
Good luck _________________ Riders Inc. |

Thanks Geoff, one thing though, even at low volumes does yours sound a bit distorted on the lower frequencies (before you had it adjusted?)
Thanks |

Yeah mine did alittle at low volumes, I don't remeber much though, soon as I hear distortion I am in there adjusting cross overs! Maybe you should take the grilles off and just run your finger around to see if the speaker is blown, inspect them....MB quart is high quality stuff I don't think that is the problem.
Is it coming out of both speakers or just one? If it is just one then maybe you have a deffective speaker...if not it is a cross over problem. Try the cross over thing first, this may take some time if you've never done it before...If I remeber mine is set around 100 hz. I don't know much about those numbers but I am pretty sure that is what mine is set on. I was gonna adjust mine a little before going out tonight (I am still dialing the system in) I will look and see what they are set on for you. _________________ Riders Inc. |
