Buergday,
I remember awhile back that you had gotten a Monkey Bar and you were going to convert it into a tower by adding support arms. Have you had time to do that, if you were still planing on doing it? I've been looking around different home improvement stores to find different ways of doing it and I also have that site you had posted (with the $25 mounts) bookmarked, but I still haven't come up with any definate ideas.
Also, Do you have any pics with your homemade board rack mounted the the Monkey Bar?
I guess I do have an idea that would probably work for sure, unfortunately it involves having some custom CNC work done which would probably get pretty expensive. Well, thanks for any help.

No, I haven't converted it yet. I have used it a few times already though, and I love it. I know it's not a true tower, but it works great! I do still want to add solid supports like I'd mentioned before, but I haven't had the time to do it yet - maybe sometime over the summer.
As for the pix, I haven't taken any yet, but I will next time I get out on the water - probably this weekend. I'll post them once I take em. The rack works awesome too. It doesn't rattle at all - I was worried about that. Even in rough water, it's quiet as can be.
I also added some lights to the monkey bar. They work well too. I picked em up at Kragen for like $40. They're 55 watt halogens with a projector-like lens. Very slick looking. I'll be sure to get them in the pix as well.
Keep your eyes peeled for the pix.
Take it easy!

Thanks man...can't wait to see the pics! My Monkey Bar is still in the box, the weather hasn't been all that great for getting it mounted quite yet. All the lakes I ride on don't allow going over idle speeds after dark, so I won't be getting lights...however I will most likely be building a speaker box of some sort...I will be putting four speakers up and haven't decided whether to build a box or make 4 tubbies....I'll probably go with the box...although it'd be heavier than 4 PVC tubes, it'd be easier to take down one box than four tubbies. Well I'll be looking out for those pics....Thanks!!!

| I have the monkey bar tower on my '82 2001 and I use the sky rack board rack and it looks great. It is made for pylons but fits perfectly. I am in the process of trying to make some towers speakers with out much luck. I would love to see a post when you finish yours.

SayWhat!,
I've thought about getting the rack you mentioned (if it's the one I'm thinking of). Right now though, I'm usually the only one in the boat that wakeboards, so I usually only have one or two boards with me, so I just lay them on the floor. They get in the way at times, it's just with all the stuff I've already bought this year towards boarding plus some stuff I still have left to get (i.e. Spectra rope), I still haven't decided if I want to put up the $180-$300 for a rack. But it does seem like a really nice rack.
I still haven't gotten my Monkey Bar mounted yet, so I don't know how it's going to be. How do you like yours? I'm looking foward to riding with it. Anything has to be better than the 4ft pylon I have now.
As far as the box...I'm kinda taking my time on building it because I still have yet to get an amp (yet, another one of the things I still have to get...man, I need money), but anyway, I have some ideas in my head, just haven't gotten around to putting them on paper yet...If I do get around to it...I'll be sure to post something.

| I will take a picture of my setup this weekend and post if for you. I love the monkey bar. It looks pretty good, is tall enough for a good ride, it comes down in less then five minutes, and it was only $550 from Caribe. This will be my third season with it and I am extremely happy. I am putting in perfect pass by the end of april and tonight I am building a new back seat to hold my fat sac and to provide extra seating. I was going to buy the fat seat but have heard to many bad things about it.

Thanks...I would like to see the pic. I got my Monkey Bar off e-bay this winter, so I'm getting anxious on putting it on. That's good that it comes down pretty easy, because our dock roof isn't tall enough to hoist the boat out of the water and not have it hit the ceiling.

drifter -
I finally took a few pics this weekend of the monkeybar with the board rack and lights mounted to my P.O.S. boat. I should've taken one with the board in the rack, but oh well. Here they are.........

Buergday,
thanks for posting the pics. That looks really nice. the board rack looks good. i like it. Have the cables been a problem? It looks like unless someone is sitting in the center bow seat, the cable wouldn't be much of a problem. Is the monkey bar quiet and rattle free? I'm really looking forward to getting ours mounted now.

Thanks.
The cables don't get in the way at all - except for the center bow seat. The bar doesn't rattle at all - it's perfectly quiet. Installation of the thing was a breeze too.

I have a Skylon SportsBar tower, which is basically a MonkeyBar with the supports like y'all are talking about. This is a picture of the newer model, the SuperSport, but is the same design. Maybe y'all can get some ideas from it. I also have the Skylon racks on each side, speakers coming soon.

Thanks Cary...yeah, the mounting the support bars to the monkey bar is the main road block. finding brackets for mounting them to the boat has been easy, but so far the only way I can figure out how to attach them to the monkey bar is either by welding them on or having some custom CNC machined brackets made, but that could probably get costly, I haven't looked into the cost yet.
Buergday, I'm glad to hear that the bar is nice and quiet. I'm not sure if you've already answered this question before, but on the inline wheels for your board rack...what millimeter are they and did you have to remove the core/rim thing in the middle to get it to go on? Thanks

No I didn't have to remove the core. I just popped out the bearings and they fit perfectly. I'm not sure of the millimeter, though. I just swiped 'em from my bro's old-school rollerblades. Back then, I think they only made one or two sizes. They're the standard old school size. The rollerblade wheels were the key to making my board rack snug and secure for the boards. I don't even remember what possessed me to try 'em in the first place. But, I'm glad I did!
Hope that helps!
