| we have a 18ft sea ray cruiser, we attach the rope to the ring at the back so we dont get very high off the wake. will a seven ft pylon help significantly or is it a waste of money? |

I dont think it would make much of a differance at all.
How high are you getting? You can get pretty high with just a ski hook (what your useing)
Here is a picture of me behind our 18ft Sea Ray. (its not that high, but i get about twice the hight off D-Ups) So you dont need a tower to get good air. (or enough air to do most basic-Intermediate tricks.)........I dont know if any of this makes sense but w/e lol

| how high can you go now? if your not poppin right and gettin some good air then a tower or pylon or whatever is just a waste. raising the attatchment point of the rope to the boat simply decreases downpull on the roap once you've gone above the attatchment point. getting one will help indeed but dont believe that it is going to turn you into a pro-rider. if you aren't getting high enough use the money on lessons instead |

I'd suggest staying away from buying a pylon for many reasons. Two of which are, loss of space in boat and once you get it, you'll regret it and wish you had bought a tower.
If you're worried about price, look around and you'll find some affordable towers that aren't priced too much higher than a pole.
Some examples:
www.assaulttowers.com
www.bigairtowers.com
www.diywake.com
www.monstertowers.com
I can't think of any more off the top of my head, but I'm sure there's more. |

A pylon will help you get more airtime, but the most important is to get good pop of the wake...
See my profile pic: I have a 18Ft SeaRay with a pylon and don't regret it (yet )
but; If I would do it again, I'll go for the tower
