I recently installed some tower speakers on my boat. It wasn't easy to do and took me about 5 hours to do it. I am sure there are easier ways and that's what I need to find out. After all that work for some reason my amp keeps shutting off when I'm wakeboarding. If I am sitting in a cove and listening to music I have no problems. I have replaced the amp and all the power wiring and the same thing keeps happening.
It is one of two things. The speaker wire inside a speaker can isn't secured all the way and tapping the other wire or I stripped some of the insulation off the speaker wire when I was snaking it thru my tower, causing the amp to short itself out momentarily. The bends in my tower made installation extremely difficult so I had to soap up the speaker wire to keep it from getting caught. I have been told this is a method that has been used before but I wonder if the soap did something to speaker wire insulation.
Does anyone have any suggestions for doing this. Taking the wiring out of the boat is also going to be a hassle. So any suggestions will help.
