MONO :(

sooooo i found out yesterday after going to the doctor and getting bloodwork done that i have mono... i can't do anything strenuous for about 2 weeks, maybe more. just so you know i DIDNT get it from kissing any dirty girls...as far as i know.. i think i got it from lack of sleep mixed with a lot of physical work.. that is possible right?

well anyway, i'm sure some of you have had mono at some point so how long did it take to get healthy again? any tips on how to get and stay healthy or anything i should make sure i definitely don't do? all i plan on doing is eat, sleep, watching movies, and maybe even read some books.
well...back to watching tv mixed with napping... Embarassed

yea i had mono once. i dont know how long i had it for though. its honestly not that bad. all i wanted to do was sleep. and i forget if i either wanted to eat alot or didnt wanna eat at all. one or the other. i dont think you can get it from no sleep. i think it has to be passes through saliva. i got mine when i was skiing at tremblant and i didnt kiss any french girls so it could have been through bad water or anything like that. youll be fine though. dont worry.

my buddy just had it. he just missed a couple days of work and he got all swolen for a few days. it seems to be pretty much gone now. if you feel up to it, i would say go and ride.

I got it in college, I felt like crap for about a month, but I never missed a class so it isn't that bad. It is a virus passed by saliva so even drinking the same beverage as someone else could cause you to contract it. At least you can't get it again!! Very Happy

ok then i retract my statement about kissing dirty girls...that website says that symptoms begin 4-7 weeks after contracting the virus so there are three possible suspects... not including any drinks i may have shared...really makes you think... im curious who i got it from then. i'll just wait until one of them falls ill and then BINGO it was them Twisted Evil

...anyway i just woke up from another nap! Day 2: mono still goin strong!

I got it my senior year of HS. It was about a month before I felt top notch again. I hardly ate anything and I lost about 12-15 lbs. I know exactly who the filthy skank was that gave it to me too. Evil or Very Mad

i had it in december....i finally felt like getting out of bed by mid january. If your spleen is enlarged you're not supposed to work out strenuously for a couple of months after you stop feeling bad. Good Luck

I'm pretty sure you can get mono again....especially if you try to get back to your normal activities too soon, and when it relapses its usually worse.

I've had it twice now, once in 8th grade and once in college. I was not fun either time for me. I would easily get tired for at least a month and probably took two months until I was 100%. Now before someone says you can only get it once, I was tested both times. I was however the first confirmed case of someone having it twice that the doctor had ever seen. However you can relapse if you start to do too much too quick, and like it was said before the relapse is usually worse.

It would be an awesome disease if your spleen didn't expand and potentially rupture. I mean, all you do is sit around and sleep. I know some cases are worse then others, but my friend had it, and he was fine, he just couldn't do anything crazy because of the spleen issue.
