I have used my wakeboard about 10 times. I can get up fine and go back and forth across the wake. But I want to jump. I have skied for years, so going back and forth across the wake is no big deal. Anyway, my first question is about boat speed. I have your basic 18 ft runabout. About how fast should I be towed? Remember, I am fairly new and want to learn the correct way to ride this thing.

i ride at 18-21... you can build more speed the harder you edge.... that's key...
just hold your edge through the wake and stand tall...you should get some pop

For edging drills (learning surface 180's, riding switch, learning cuffed position, etc.) we pull at 18-20. For jumps we pull from 20 - 24 depending on who's behind the boat. Not all boats pull the same so just experiment with what feels comfortable to you. Smile

speed doesnt really matter, I's starting on jumps as well, and I got akinda of a half jump on a fairly slow edge going about 17, and I'm going to try a faster edged jump next time out, (probably in a few weeks thank to vacation) going closer to 20 I'll see what happens
