I'm looking to buy a locker sack for my Malibu LSV. I would like to know the biggest sack that would fit in the ski locker. Any help is appreciated... _________________ UCSB Waterski Team |

|
|
Can't speak for your own ski locker but measured up the locker in my Master Craft and has dimensions 74x10x10 inches. So if using the longest possible sac (BigBump) at 66 inches, even without allowing for some loss of volume due to the sac itself, the max volume of water is contained within a 66 in by 10 x10 space is 6600 cubic inches which is 240lb. This is the absolute maximum and, to allow for the sac I reckon 4750 cu inch or 175 lb is more realistic.
Hence decided not to use locker sac as insufficient volume to complement a 700lb+ sac in rear. Hope this helps. |

| You might try the Gethighsports.net bag. They are longer than most and although won't fill completely, will fill a locker pretty well. Thats what I use in my sunsetter |

| No matter what sac you use, it will be constrained be of the ski locker. Measure it up and estimate the volume it will hold. Every cubic inch is equivalent to 0.036 lbs of water so a locker the same size as that on my Mastercraft (70x10x10 inches) will hold only 252lbs of water ASBSOLUTE MAX. And that's not allowing for the sac being shorter than 70 inches (most are - the Gethighsports BigBumps are, I believe, the longest at 66 inches) or precious space taken up by the sac itself. Therefore, if the locker is comparablr to that in my Mastercraft, you'll be lucky to get 200lbs of water in it which ain't a lot! |

I have a Sunsetter LXi which really needs a lot of weight in the front. I use two sacs in the front, one in the locker (wihout sac cover) and one in the walk way (with cover). Both of the sacs are identical "ski locker" sacs, but I don't remember the name right now. Each have capability of 375 lbs, but the one in the locker probably only gets 250-300 due to space. But it works well in this set up. _________________ Hyper |

Lead bricks or sand bags can be put under the bow seats (or anywhere else out of the way). I suppose if you could get something custom made like eeven73 mentioned, get one to fill up the area under the bow seats. _________________ Willy

As RYDOG recommended, Letsgoride.com supply a variety of different sac sizes suitable for use under bow seats etc. However, the difference in density between lead (or sand) and water is such that if you don't have much space available, lead is a far better option. The downside is that unlike water, you can't pump it in and out so you have to manhandle it.
Am going thro' this evaluation myself and have opted for two gethighsports BigBumps, (700-750lbs each) one front, one rear. For, when I did the sums, it was clear a single locker sac up front wouldn't be enough. Once I know (by experimentation) how much weight I need up front, I may dispose with the front sac and use lead/sand under the bow seats to keep the floor area clear in the open bow. |
