| Hey guys, I was wondering if there was somthing to put in the holes when you take the fins off your board or do you just ride with the holes in the board? |

lol that cool. I am getting a 134 Substance and I will hopefully get to the point where i wont need fins and i wasn't sure if they put somthing in the holes or just left them open. It sounds like you guys leave them open. |

| Most leave them open, won't affect your riding. If it bothers you though some people put stickers over them. |

OK here's the deal most people will argue with me but the holes make a difference in how the board rides. If i didn't shapers wouldn't bother getting the bottom smooth. The holes cause turbulence, and that effects the tracking. No maybe you'll never notice but you might. So here is what most people do. Put a sticker or piece of tape on the bottom of the board to cover the holes. Then from the top side melt some wax (candles work great, dripless candles seem to last longer without melting away) and drip it into the holes until full. Remove the tape or sticker from the bottom. Now you should have a nice smooth surface on the bottom of your board again. The wax will get hot and melt in the sun. I nver really have a problem with it on the boat because it gets hot then cold in the water but if I leave it in my car it will melt and run down your board, not a problem just clean it off and repet. If you want a permanent solution that won't melt and you won't ever have to replace do the same thing with 2 part epoxy. If you ever want the fins back on you'll have to drill it back out. _________________ Shane Cook

Putting 2 Part Epoxy on your board is not the smartest thing, first of all if your screw up, then you got glue lines running down your board and second, why the hell would you go anywhere near your board with a drill |

| the holes do NOT affect your riding, come on. its all mental if you think it causes "turbulence" in the water |

Turbulence in the water? Uhhh, yeah, totally. It MIGHT slow down your cuts the slightest amount, if any water is actually running through the holes...which generally doesn't happen on my board with no fins. Definitely nothing noticeable though. _________________ "It's always advisable to remain silent and appear stupid, than to speak and remove all doubt..." |
