|
|
| What has been your experience with different speeds and rider abilities? My daughter really likes to be pulled at about 18 to 20. My wife says I settle in at about 22. The wake get washy futher farward the slower I go, so I'm running my rope pretty short. But the wake gets taller though. |

I am learning that it will vary depending on how your boat is weighted and how many people are in it.
In my boat, I can get a clean wake at around 18-20 with no ballast. When it gets loaded down, I have to speed up well over 21 to make the wake firm, at slower speeds it is not firm and a rider can cut through it.
Another thing to keep in mind is that boat speedos are not accurate unless you have calibrated them recently. So 18 on one persons boat could be 22 in real life. |

I ride at 19 with no ballast and 21-22 with full ballast(2000) It also depends on the lake and water conditions if its butter I will ride faster and if it is choop I will ride slower _________________ Supra owners join the group!

| Well, if you go too slow, you tend to sink a bit in the water, making cuts a bit slower. Also, at certain speeds, the wake might not be fully formed/shaped to its full potential. There are lots of reasons, and I only touched on two of them. If I had a bit more time I would provide more details and analysis. |

I run at 23 mph, 75 feet out.
It is nice and firm at 23, and still gives a kick.
With more than 3 people, I usually go up about .5 mph per 2 extra people. |

23-25, I'll take a medium height firm wake over a tall mushy wake any day. _________________ I've found out that there's a fine line between being brilliant, and plum loco. -DJ Quik

| 25-28 that is just what I have been most comfortable at since I started, our boat might read about 2 mph higher though. For sliders I like to go slower, but I don't really hit many sliders. |

I like 23 behind my 21V with full bags..wake is nice and hard and I can ride at longer line length and go W2W instead of out in the flats (i'm getting old) from both sides with out a huge cut. Behind my old 93 SN, I like a shorter line at 21-22...that put me in it's sweet spot. _________________ Don't look at me in that tone! |

| Can someone compare the Malibu LSV wake width with the VLX? I ride at 23mph and 70' mostly behind our LSV. I haven't ridden behind a VLX lately but I bet that would be over 75' for an equal wake width. I'll ride at 75 sometimes behind our LSV and that is super wide. |
