Do ballast devices count as weight in your boat. I've heard rumors that it does not because it is a neutral weight. Meaning that if the boat starts sinking the water in a fat sack becomes neutral and won't contribute to the boat sinking. I got a ticket for having to much weight in the boat not because of the wake size. Does anyone know anyhting about this subject.
Save your politically correct crap about not calling cops pigs cuz nobody's listening.
Ballast does count toward the total weight. Read the coast gaurd load tag on your boat I believe it says "People, Gear & Ballast" or something like that. Ballast might contribute to you sinking in the first place...Like you putting a giant wave over the bow because you've weighted your boat so much. It's too bad you got a ticket for it. I don't think I've seen too many wakeboard boats obeying that sticker. My boat is pretty much illegal before anyone even steps into it. Then you add 1200 pounds of people!
You are right in saying that if your boat started sinking the ballast would not contribute to it. But if it isn't sinking it is weight in your boat. _________________ Riders Inc.
