| Okay here's the problem, I get up just fine. But just after getting up, I shoot right outside the wake. How do I keep this from happening |

theres about 40 other threads that ask exact the same question.
you can get pointers and all that but its all in theory.
just get out there and go.. youll get the hang of it.
don't worry about it.. dont over think it.. dont get frustrated.
only a matter of time before your w2w'ing.
keep yourself balanced.. keep handle low to your hip.. |

I bet you are trying to hold the rope out in front of you while you need to hold the rope near your lead hip. Also, keep your back straight because I bet you are humped over. This is a coommon problem and i gave you the common cure. Good luck!
Oh, and the search function sucks on this site. Either that or I suck at using it! |

If you're shooting out on your heelside you are leaning back on your heels. Try putting pressure on your toes to counteract this and then move to the next step of edging on your toeside edge. Then you can learn the surf carve, described on this site:http://www.wakeboarder.com/tricks/surfcarve.phtml
With practice the balance will come |

Well as a fellow newbie I found it best to allow myself to move outside the wake. When I first mastered getting up I headed left (I'm left foot forward). After a few crashes trying for control I allowed myself to move outside the wake to the left. It seems to be smooth out there and I felt it was a good place to get a feel for controlling the board. Once outside keep the handle low and near your lead hip and stand proud, upright with knees bent.
My 2 cents (and as a newbie it may not be worth that)
Good Luck

| This is a common problem for everyone first starting out, you just arent used to twisting your body enough. A lot of it comes with experience, what might help is to try and put you back arm behind your back. It may look weird but it will help you to twist your body so you are parellel to the boat and so you can start turning back to the wake, I know it helped me. |

| Like the other guy said, let go of your back hand(which is your right hand if you ride left forward) and put the handle near your hip...it should make you get straight |
