|
|
I've got a 23' I/O and I added about 600lbs of water weight in the rear half of the boat. Nose in the air ahoy.
I'm looking for around 200-300 lbs of solid weight to add to the front. I have 2 large bow compartments so room isnt really an issue.
All I have found so far is roughly $1 a lb. Bird Shot, Lead, Tractor Plates. I need something much cheaper. Any ideas? Are sandbags worth a crap? I really dont want a mess, and I can picture sandbags being just that. Doesnt need to be pretty or petite, just useable.
Thanks in advance. |

Rhawn, Move that weight to the bow.
Sterndrives do not appreciate weight in the rear at all.
You might be surprised.... with 600lbs int he bow the wake should be far better and will stop the purpoising. in an i/o the rule of thumb is 80% weight up front, 20% rear. as opposed to v drives and direct drives which generally prefer 60% in the back, 40% up front. _________________ www.AxisBoats.co.uk | www.Malibu-Boats.co.uk |

Ive ordered these for the compartments I was talking about, nothing is cheaper that water weight if you have the room.

I cant really move the rear bag as it is a super single waterbed that fits perfect in my ski locker.
I think I can get at least 600 in those from two bags and then I will take some weight out of the ski locker bag. Drop it down to like 400 lbs.
Thanks for the help. And good idea on the plastic toats for the sandbags. I still need a couple of those to balance out the gangster lean my boat has from dual batteries on one side.
