my friend and i want to get a wakeboard... both of us are beginners... the only thing is, i'm 5'7 and 145 lbs and he's 6'4" and 180 lbs. i'm buying the board so most importantly i want it to fit me, but i was wondering how big of a deal it is for a smaller person to use a bigger board or a bigger person to use a smaller board... would it make much of a difference?

i was thinking about getting a cwb sol with the torq hinge bindings because we have them at west marine and i have an employee discount and it seems like a decent board, but i'm not sure what size to go for (135 or 141)...
also, i found a 2005 o'brien clutch (137 cm) with link bindings for $280 (more than my price for the sol + bindings). will it be much harder to learn on a more advanced board? i'm more concerned about lasting value, though, and the clutch seems like a considerably better board so i'm considering just going with that... plus its a more neutral size, but the torq bindings might make it easier for him to fit his big ass feet in them. so what do you guys think?

id get a 135 the thing you have to worry about is his feet my friend is 6'6 and has size 15 shoe he cant come out with me wakeboading he can only tube. im your size and my sisters boyfriend is like 200 pounds and six foot and he rides my 134 fine it hold up to 175 it says... so a 135 or 137 is good id be comfortable with IF ITS YOUR board your ot surfing you dont wanan compromise to much if your buying it, worst comes to worst make him buy his own do you have a boat or mooching rides?

thanks for the advice, i think i'm gonna go with the 135 sol... the bindings on the clutch are way too small for him.

oh and we're using his boat.

yeah so i think im getting a cwb flame with the torq bindings instead cuz i can get it with the employee discount and its only 50 bucks more than the sol... and hes just gonna deal with whatever i get, at least the bindings will probly fit him. if the board doesnt work out for him, he'll probly stick to his wakeskate and waterskis.
