My friend took me camping this weekend and he told me to try water skiing, kneeboarding, and wakeboarding. The only one i could get up on was wakebaord...but i got fairly good at it and I used a 2005 hyperlite motive 144 biolite...I loved this board because of the design..But should I buy it from my friend? Or should i look for a different board..I don't have much money..So I can't buy boards and try them out. Any suggestions?

Go for it. I learned on a 2004 motive and the 2005 are better IMO due to the outer fins. It is a great all around board if you can ride on it then it works for you and that is what matters in the end.

I don't know anything about Gators, but I have a 2006 HL Motive 144 and I like it. Like drdubie said, it's a great all around board, and it should last you for a while even as you progress in skill level.
